I have driven Group A Skoda Favorite's in Forest Rally's for a couple of years, and can't fault the performance (save for the driver!) - all I can say is why don't they drop the same engine in a Fabia - that would blow away the GTi brigade! Are they putting 4WD running gear on it?

*New Octavia RS on sale in October, price around £17,500

*Powerful 180bhp turbocharged engine

*Lowered suspension and larger alloy wheels improve the handling

*0-60mph in 7.8 seconds. Top speed 145mph

Oh dear, and nice green brake calipers, I might want one .
It's basically a cut-price Audi A4T thingy.
The motorshow is going to be very interesting this year.
Cheers
Chuck

Who would have thought - even 5 years ago - you'd be asked to pay over £17K for a SKODA who at the being of the 90's were in the same league as Lada.

What has happened to Lada?

Question

Is this the ultimate 'Q' car?

Andy.

It is quite nice, I was looking at it in Auto Express. It's no Impreza though and will not be a challenge. I expect it to sell well. Why pay alot for the A4 when you can get more for less.

Imagine the looks when you chuck your keys on the counter and are asked what you drive. Even better than when the 'preza was not well known, a Suba-what!

Given the state of the market, there's no way it will sell well at that price.

Mind you, make it closer to £15k and it'll fly out of the showrooms.

I think Skoda are planning a 4wd version too. That is most likely to have a 6 speed 'box and 225BHP.

Chuck - yeah I was grinning but I left the space in - doh!

That would be mega wouldn't it? Just think on trackdays kicking bum in a Skoda!!!

It would be even better in an old ratty Estelle 105 - with cross plys and radials on the same axle.
