Lucas oils octane booster.
I just put a bottle of the Lucas oils/NOPI octane booster into my WRX.Cost £12.00 per bottle. Supposedly a stronger racing formula!?!
Normally use Millers. Cost £6.00.
Have i been ripped off or is there a difference in the quality and strength of these octane boosters??
To be honest i can't tell the difference in the performance of the car but ive only had a short drive back from the shop.
Will let you all know when ive been out for a proper blast.

£6 for Millers? That's 2 bottles?
A UK WRX, un-modified, should'nt need octane booster, so I doubt if you will feel any significant difference in performance terms other than a little more "livelyness" due to it allowing a tad more ignition advance.
Is that stuff OK for your cat (If you've still got them!) - seeing as you dumped a whole can in the tank? (I've got some blurb on Lucas stuff that I picked up at the Autosport show, I'll sort it out and see what it says about compatability)
Millers is a pretty safe bet, it smoothes the combustion as proven by the lack of interest by the Knocklink in my STi

Just re-looked at your thread - where did I get the impression it was a UK WRX?

You didnt Its a jap import.
Dunno about the price of the Millers but thats what ive been paying since i brought the motor....perhaps its a bigger bottle??
The Lucas stuff said to add to a full tank of fuel for best results..so thats what i did.
Street race formula...........probably piffle??
We will see.

It's OK - just a little age related brain fade.
A bottle of the Lucas stuff (444mL) treats "up to 25 gallons" - that's probably US gals.? so in real terms it's about the same as you're paying for the Millers.
Millers is around £3.50 for the std. 250mL bottle www.millersoils.com I buy a box of 10 for around £27 (when I manage to see my supplier) I only use it rarely in my UK STi

Id recommend Nitrous Formula. Race (black) is best and you will need between 50ml - 60ml per tank. This will take take Optimax to 100RON. Even at £13 a bottle itll work out cheapest as well as best, or I'll heat my Arai.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the Lucas stuff as it's a lot easier for me to obtain than Millers (which requires a long trip) or NF (which requires mail order, and then an early start to get to the post box on the way into work)

Have now had time to take the car out for a reet good parp.....and im pleased to say that the Lucas oils race formula Octane Booster is surprisingly good stuff!!
Car felt sharper, more responsive and a little quicker over all.
Don't think i will be using it regularly though as the price is a bit naughty, £12.00 a bottle!!
Give it a try....see what you think.
