Unhappy A serious Scoobynet issue or problem if you prefer

Please comment and contribute genuine answers to a question many people are asking:

Why do people dilute the good forum and name of Scoobynet by posting continuous cr*p and repetitive rubbish?

Please:

Make comments sensible.
Don't post for the sake of it.
Use the search facility.
Try to help other users.
Don't be judgemental.
Don't post WRX vs STI vs EVO vs washing machine vs my car is better than your car type threads unless genuine questions or points to make/discuss.
DON'T TROLL AND TRY TO WIND PEOPLE UP?

Am I wrong in these issues?

Brian

I can think of a few things that people bite which are pointless, but why do people post it in the first place? Does not do anything at all positive for the forums.

Thanks Dave - I knew I could rely on you to sum up almost all of my points above

At least you reply - nearly 100 views and no replies really.

A certain amount of fodder is par for the course for internet forums, irrespective of the subject matter. It's a model for the web as a whole: you have to trawl though quite a bit of junk before you find a gem. There is a lot of baiting on here as owning a performance car is inherently competitive: we all like to know we've got a bit of poke under the bonnet sir! People that are enthusiastic about something are also easy targets for such baiting too.

People will always post crap; there's not much the webmaters can do about this. It is incumbent on the individual uers to take what they want from the site and avoid the stuff that they don't find useful/entertaining!

There is still much to be said for this site. I've found it invaluable on several occassions.

Nuff said

True - however MANY other forums have large amounts of posting without a lot of the useless stuff. I suppose as it is not an owners club, etc it may be far more diluted.

Also, many people who post here do not own anything Subaru and many openly riducule the marque, slag it off without reference or have no intentions of contributing to a forum/community. I am sure that was not the original intention behind the setup of the site or the aims of the people involved in the running of it

I would like to think that the majority of the community think the same to be honest.

To have a site with zero noise ratio would require zero tolerance from the moderators. This is believe is not workable in the real world and out of the few very large forums, Scoobynet is one of the best in both areas of the community and the moderation team that supports it.

Unfortunately we can never please everyone 100% of the time.

With ever increasing traffic, comes possible increasing problems. It's catch 22, but I still think we have a happy medium.

Regards,
Shaun.

I see what you are saying and agree with you on most of your points, but unfortunatly such posts as the wrx vs sti vs evo that you mention seen to get a hell of a lot of replys. I guess people enjoy talking about such mundane things.

I know there is a lot of poor quality posts put on not only this but lots of car forums and sometimes the really bad ones are quite amusing .
You must remember sometimes people may not have stuff that is really interesting but if they didnt post you would proberly only need to come onto these sites once a fortnight as otherwise there wouldnt be much to read.

Cheers

Paul.

P.S.

I would also like to think we have moved with the times and since the original vision of Scoobynet has expanded (as regards to the people it attracts and discussion topics available), I still feel we are the No.1 place for anything Subaru related.

Regards,
Shaun.

You asked the question, "Please comment and contribute genuine answers to a question"

I did ...... if you don't like the answer then I suggest you don't ask

Why don't you join the Catalytic Converter BBS at www.saddosonly.co.uk ??

I would like to know why people cannot use the word "problem" these days but have to replace it with "issue" does it sound more trendy or something, have a listen next time the news is on or a radio program. "today 123 people were blow apart by a car bomb, the peace keeping forces say security is an issue"

why issue FFS AAAAGGGGHHHH

AP

ps I dont have a PROBLEM with it just an issue

SN is the only site I post on. I look at others including the BBC ones but I find that SN threads do not, in the main, degenerate into slanging matches or two posters reviling each other as quickly as others.
A plus is the wide range of forums.
After all it is people with all their prejudices and foibles, mine included.
I can live with that.
To be blunt, if you can't, you don't have to visit.

At least there are other forums in which to ask serious questions.

Sorry, I was being serious. Surely an internet community is a sort of living thing that evolves and goes in the directions the users take it. That must be part of the attraction, the fact one's post can cause a reaction from others is quite enjoyable.
Look up some stuff about group dynamics. Relevant, even in the virtual world.
