Yes it affects your warranty and it serves NO PURPOSE ! Your car has a re-circulating dump valve fitted; VTA dump valves, besides doing little more than making a stupid noise totally f*ck up your fuelling; when your bores have been washed and your engine fails IM will tell you to **** off and rightly so.
F*cking dump valves; 'The Fast and the Furious' has a lot to answer for doesnt it?

I think i'd better leave it then, after that slap on the wrist. Don't fancy driving about looking like a 33yr old female chav. Cheer's for the advice

if you like it mrs carlos then you go for it, i personally prefer them to some of these mudflap fetishes that these self righteous sorts fit, bored of seeing the anti dump valve brigade s responses, if you notice any dump valve thread has huge responses usually split down the middle, truth is it is as personal as colour , alloys, exhaust , lights, stickers, list goes on. if you want one then go ahead, you can always take it off if you don t like it. cos in life you only need to please yourself and forget what anyone else thinks.

It has nothing to do with preference; VTA dump valves dont benefit your car at all (unless youre in a tiny minority and have a 400+BHP monster that needs it) and they DO cause it to over-fuel which washes the bores.
The fact that someone 'fitted one last year and their car is still running' doesnt mean that the car hasnt been affected ffs. It staggers me that on an 'enthusiasts' website people wear their ignorance proudly like a f*cking badge...

Spookily enough I've just come in from changing my dumpvalve.
I bought my STI5 Type R last weekend and it had a Bailey VTA dump valve already fitted by the previous owner. It sounded $hit, people in decent cars frowned at me, and the car ran like a bag of cr@p. I could hear it slowly leaking (venting) continuously on a partly open or trailing throttle. Response when changing gear under load was terrible, with a big jolt as I backed off the throttle.
Anyway, I immediately ordered an OE Subaru re-circ valve when the local dealership opened on tuesday. I had to endure the horrible Bailey POS all week but I picked up a nice sparkly new Subaru re-circ at lunchtime and fitted it after work.
What a difference, it now runs so smooth it feels like a different engine! There's noticably more power as the boost pressure isn't constantly bleeding away, and gearchanges under load are now nice and smooth like they should be.
If you're thinking of fitting a VTA then think twice, IMO it's a complete and utter waste of money.

(PS Anyone want to buy a Bailey VTA dump valve?)

However,
Let’s ponder the topic
Re-curc DV forces via friction & engine bay temp ,heated air back into the air intake system and partially re-fed
DV to atmos forces the use of cold air inducted from the first point of intake i.e front of car
Colder air makes air density favourably for use with a turbo, thus creating slightly more power, spool time for the turbo would also be altered and the ecu with its limited sell learning abilities would adapt
Small mammals at night will be forewarned and thus allow more fluffy bunny’s to roam the green hills and lanes of England
Roll a joint, sling on ya Burberry and kick back and knock one out over some hard up northern lass on the semi naked max power magazine game doing a chav-va-avalanch saxo meet up, all seats must be adjusted to jet fighter position so you can clean your ear out from the rear passenger door ****
They sound great especially if you change gear very very quick when you’re doing 1 to 3 gears rapid
Your can drive around under 3k on the revs without it blowing in small towns,3 to 4 k and you have ya sound
Experienced DV drivers can control the noise level and the tone and length for which it sounds for by using the throttle depression speed
Seriously
I have a love hate relationship with them, in my 3 years and No 2 scoob looking at No 3 soon, i have worked out my DV has been fitted 40 % of the time because i switch between personalities on a seasonal basis
There is a solution however
Ditch your air resonator box,buy a P.E ind kit and your standard DV will be heard as the air intake system become semi amplified but not load like a aftermarket DV, even with air res box you will hear the DV
Warranty
Simple, ive changed dealers allot, some will give you the ok if you ask "id like to put a performance air filter on my car, will you still look after me with my warranty please
One dealer, infact the supplier of my last car said, "back box and filter no problem" then he added "we’ve placed parts back on cars before for warranty"
And that was an old well established Subaru dealership
Another explained " if you mod the engine and it goes you knackered, if you mod the filter and the gearbox goes not an issue"
If you’re ok with money and you use the DV on and off, as they only take 2 mins to fit ! I swop when checking the oil to give you an idea.
Just bought a bailey dv12 only had it on this scoob since tuesday and im already thinking of taking it off this weekend, but, i will need another fix in a few weeks and so on
And yep, this is the longest thread i have ever written, and no i am not a Chav, im from Herts
