...if its 4wd then 650kg is damn light for such a drivetype! I've set it at minimum 700kg becuase people put silly figures in. You'll have to use 700kg for the 4WD option (others set lower).
See details down the page on www.letstorquebhp.com/explained.asp for parameters.

Cheers

Must say the site looks good now since the update , the above thread was before the update , but was only discussing the performace calculator.

Cheers

Yeah I read that cheers, and as a result of just that basic mention (using the development site at the time) we had 126 referals alone from scoobynet (according to our stats) so I thought I would mention the new look site.

oh, and the new release has improved formulas again since you used it a few days ago. They now allow for heavier (above 1500kg) 4wd cars and bring them more in line with real life, and we've capped the maximim 0-60 acheivable on fwd too.

cheers

Need to chip a bit off the Saxo VTS. Even Jason Plato was saying on an old episode of Driven the other day (The one where they put the VTS up against an STi bugeye and an Evo VII) that it's a 7.5 sec to 60 in standard trim.

8.15 seems a bit conservative. Mine will outpace an MR2 MK2 to about 80 and they're a 7.odd sec car.

edited to add - when I say 'up against' they used the VTS as a hare for the STi and Evo greyhounds to chase down

...the problem with using "quoted" bhp and kg figures is that the sometimes they show incorrect results becuase they are wrong in the first place. The VTS and 106gti too both appear to acheive close to 125-130bhp on most rolling roads as standard according to the french Gti mag, but Citroen/Peugeot still quote 120bhp which is what our formulas are using. Other cars like the Focus RS often acheive closer to 230bhp on RR in standard trim too (see performance ford articles) but also give incorrect figures when using the quoted 212bhp too. It can work the other way too.

How did Citroen test the saxo vts to get the figures, one up running a small amount of fuel or two up with a full tank of petrol ? Makes a difference and a big difference to a small light hatchback.

Very True about weight too. Our figures (60, 100, 1/4mile for road) are there to compare with road tests articles (2 people half tank), but the drag stip figure is a better comparision on a drag surface and 1 person, obviously the 60 figures etc would be slightly quicker too on the drag stip which we don't show.
