More do-gooder stupidity
I don't know if people are aware, but Castle Combe is under threat due to MORONS lobbying with regard to noise. They shouldn't live by a god damn race track and expect there to not be noise??!!!
There is a petition online, please sign it: http://www.petitiononline.com/306007/
They don't want use to drive performance cars on the road, yet they try and get the tracks closed where we can drive them!!
Andy

If they lived there before the track was built then fine, they might have grounds to complain. If they've moved there since it was built then they only have themselves to blame and should shut the **** up.

Signed it Please can everyone make an effort to do so, remember if tracks like this start to close there will be no Japfest, Rallyday, etc. to attend.

There is always people like this.
Part of our business is building developments. We own land, have planning permission to build on.
Most cases Land we have owned for 10 to 20 years, we have applied and been granted planning permission well in advance for residential medium to large luxuary homes. No complaints.
Funny though, when we start to show signs of building there (can be up to 3-5years). Complaints come flooding in. And the daft thing is in many cases the nearby residents who are complaining bought the poperty AFTER planning permssion was granted . And under law they HAVE TO KNOW that there is going to be new housing built on adjacent land.
They accept this, move in (on one deveolpment all adjacent housing was only 1 to 2 years old...planning was given 5 years before hand so everybody knew what was being built). Then when building starts they do everything in their power to undermine our company from protests to petetions, even to go as low as calling health and safety at the sight of 2pence piece being dropped on the floor (and H&S are bad enough and cost us £££££s as it is). Bizzarly, in some case people who complain live absolutely nowhere near the site so its impossible for them to be affected by it.
Guess who these type of people are? They usually fall in two catorgories:
Housewives with kids or Retired people. Either way they are busy bodies with nothing better to do than find and blame something on someone else whe it its entirely their own fault for ignoring it when they moved in their own brand new property. Try talking to these people and there is no reasoning or compromises, they won't accept anything you offer. They just don't like their view from the window to be shadowed by another house (even though they KNEW it would be), and the intermittant noise of a JCB and other plant ( all brand new and complies to the new "quiet site" noise regulations of 80dba@1m IIRC).
I suspect its the same case for castle combe...it has been there for over 50 years, so people complaining HAVE to be people who have moved in to the area since and knew it was there before moving. They are small minded people who have nothing better to do than continually blame things around them and not themselves for not realising what was there (or going to be) when they moved in - which their solicitor would have made very clear upon purchase.
Apologies for the rant...it does tread in lines rather to close me personally which jepdodise my job and almost 100 others, purely to idiots like these.

signed it also. A similar order was placed in southend last year where they closed down a whole section of the seafront to stop the noise pollution which, apparently, was causing some residents - who live nearly 1000 yards away some discomfort!
Only problem was that the only route you could take off of the seafront, and the recommended police diversion took you right past these complaining old g!ts houses - and they had nearly 1000+ cars ragging it past their front windows every saturday night!
Point of what I'm saying is some people just complain for complainings sake - and don't think about the consequences of what might happen if a circuit like castle coombe is closed!

And I thought that Castle Coombe like most other such sites was an airfield before it became a track, and would have had significant noise dating back to 1940 or before. So the site has had noise for 65 years....

They cant get Speed Camera Revenue if we speed on the Track and go slow on the Road
Perhaps if Castle Coombe was to allow a Gatso on Camp Corner they will be happier

Signed it. Typical NIMBY's. Prime example in my area recently - they are reopening a mothballed railway and a lot of local residents objected . Look, guys, when you bought your house did you not notice a railway line - rails, ballast, bridges, etcetera, at the bottom (literally) of your garden

All signed up,
I used to live near castle combe before moving to gods country, used to hear the cars about 5 times a year, sounded no different to someone next door mowing the lawn.
It's been a race track for as long as my old man can remember, he used to race go-karts there in the 60's/70's. sounds to me like the people complaining should be sueing there solicitor.
