Unhappy End of my tether!!!

Well i don't know what to do next! Been trying to sell MY97 for a good 3 months with hardly any interest. Biddings just finished on Ebay and stood at £5200!!!! £5200? Are they having a laugh?

Anybody know anyone looking to buy? It's been in the trader over a month with no interest, admittedly my price was a bit on the high side but its down to £6500 now. Am i asking too much? Its white with the Prodrive upgrade added so its running about 240bhp safely. Not modded apart from that, with Speedline 17's. 5 months tax, 12 months mot. Security wise its got Tracker, Cat 1 closure alram and anti-hijack. Also comes with 6 CD Alpine system.

If you want a look go on Auto trader and use WA1 2Jd as your postcode and you'll see it there. Tried putting it on here but keep getting told i don't have access to this part of the site.

Help!!!!!

Chris ... don't want to put a dampner on it but I only managed to get £5,500 for MY98 Turbo a year ago!!! Had £2,000 worth of gauges. New clutch, brakes, turbocharger, Super douper Pioneer ICE, Blitz engine components, Full Stainless exhaust, full service history.

Depressing but the prices of the classics are tumbling!

What mileage mate? It should fetch 6.5k easily, even in the current market.

Mileage is at 79600. There comes a point when you've got to say i aint going any lower! It's got a full Subaru Service History as well so it aint shabby at all. Just think the influx of imports is destroying prices at minute and i despair!!!

I personally think it's a bit on the expensive side mate.
We just got my Fiancee a MY99 T plate UK Wagon with 55K on the clock FSH, Scoobysport exhaust, nice alloys, years tax and test plus new tyres and Sony 6 CD changer for £6995 from a dealer and that included 3 Months warranty.

But you may get lucky, good luck with it anyway.

Paul.

I just sold a totally standard MY96 UK car, with 2 previous owners for £2350

Admittedly, it had 150k on the clock, but IMO Classics are just not worth that much these days

I suppose it depends how quickly you want to get rid of it too

Guess we're all looking for that elusive buyer with a bit of nouse about them who can spot a gem from a lump of rock!!!

No I don't know him, but why shouldnt i call him a **** if he is pulling on a legitimate deal like that. That's rather twatish behaviour. You wouldnt do it at a physical auction house so why think its ok on Ebay. It's people like this and scammers that ruin it for everyone else.

Anyway, it may have had a reserve in which case he is defo not a ****

I will only say one thing ..... its white!!

Nothing is worse in a colour sense - other than that MicaPink and there's one of those that can't sell either!

Colour is VITAL on a car like this - Dark Blue Mica is the colour of choice and means a decent residual price. White is simply not liked at all!

I'm afraid that is around as much as you'll get. The Book price for mine - MY97 40000miles with mileage correction is set at £6000 (thats good condition too).

The problem is, you may see a scoob in autotrader for £7000 or whatever..but does it SELL for £7000?? Probably not, and in the end of the day, buyers always go for the cheapest - that is the way things are unless your lucky.

When I sort a replacement car, I'm planning on selling in the next 6months, The most I thought I would advertise at is £6900ono. If somebody came knocking offerring above £6300, I'd take it.

I'd keep it fella if your not obliged to sell it once it has been auctioned.

I have a totally mint orig PPP MY00 with 35k 1 owner fssh regualr stamps etc etc and wouldnt get more than 6-7k, which is a joke. Once it gets a few years older I ight just turn it into a track car and buy another car as well. If you are in a position to be able to do this - why not!?

Personally, I think white is nice and different colour for a scoob, might have a few more selective buyers but should be interest.

Just keep it and enjoy it!

£5200 ain't too bad, independent dealers put cars of that age out at that sort of money.

In recent months i've seen a my99 for £6995 with 70k and a my98 with 90k for £5500 at local dealers. Dealers sell for what they can sell for and that dictates what a private seller can ask.

If it's a good car hold out or keep it, none of your mates after a scoob? Better to sell to someone who knows it's been looked after and will pay a bit of a premium.

The price on used scoobs, is devastating ...... blame insurance companies for one, who are currently hiking the insurance costs, almost trying to price them out of ownership.
and blame the loosers (allot of whom are on this forum)who keep going on about scoobs being a chav car..and anything you do is chav, people dont want cars with bad image.
Sadly tho , a car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Many moons ago , i had a manta, that had everything done to it, i reckoned it was worth 3k at the time .... i refused an offer of 2.5, 12 weeks later i had to let it go for 1.6k

If you want shut, take what you can get for it, and cut your losses.

The other trouble with white is people will assume it's an import without reading the ad. I've nothing against imports but people wanting a UK FSSH car won't look past the photo in the Trader.

Thats only because when you buy from importer they screw you for much more than its really worth. It only costs £600 to ship a car from japan to UK fully insured. And if you knew how much the car brand new to buy in Japan was and convert to UK £ you would just realise how much you are being screwed by Importers!

I would say that the £5200 is pretty close to the mark Chris, 6k would be ideal.
I think I would take it.

It's all about luck really. It was a top condition, low-miler. It was easy to sell once someone came to view it (first person bought it) but it took about 3 months to get anybody to make the trip. That's the hard part.

She's now got a 206cc

POS has been back under warranty three times already in less than 6 months!

Heres a thought!

Try selling it in Ireland!

MY00 sells for about €15-€16.5k, just a thought!
