Because in the Old Days people struggled to say, "Subaru" .... and Subaru needed a catchphrase.

So Scooby Doo was invented ,,,,,, shortened to Scoobie

I thought it was just rhyming slang, Scooby doo/Subaru?

I was told that the most common subaru's were brown, had bug eyes and the tail wagged about a bit, just like scooby do! HONEST!!!
