Default Std Immobiliser

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Std immobiliser (flashing key symbol on dash) fitted to a MY05 Euro car (or a uk car before the sigma alarm is fitted) is Thatcham Cat 2 approved ??

I have been told its not but would like anyone who knows anything definate to confirm or deny this.

The standard factory transponder immobiliser on its own (as you describe) is definately not Category 2 approved.
The immobiliser has not been tested on its own to the Thatcham Category 2 requirements - hence no evaluation number. The system does not prevent cranking of the engine and so even if submitted would not pass.

UK vehicles are tested with the standard immobiliser, but in conjunction with the standard Sigma M30 alarm and its additional starter cut. Only when combined with the Sigma system is the vehicle deemed to meet Category 1 requirements.
