Scooby Trade in
Just looked at Parkers to try and get an idea of what I should ask for trade in for my MY00 Classic Turbo (44K). It reckons about 7500 trade in.
I had a look at Auto trader to see if I could buy a similar car to mine for about 8000 and there were quite a few comparable motors. I paid loads more than that for it at a Subaru dealer last august, so I'm not feeling too happy. I thought it would have done most of its depreciation before I bought it! (Although I suppose it had halved in price!) I realise that I would have paid over the odds at a dealers, just didn't think it would be that bad. Can't really be arsed with going for the test drive tomorrow, but I might as well.
Also, presumably the fact that the wife crashed it into a lamp post isn't going to do the value any good - do I need to mention it? (It was covered by insurance and fixed by Subaru)
Well, when the salesman offers me £6500 trade in tomorrow I'll probably smack him one. Or at least come on here and moan about it!
Any ideas on the trade in value? I'm assuming Parkers are fairly accurate?

The Trade-In value depends on what you are buying and at what price you are buying .... be VERY suspicious if he offers you £8500!! He will be screwing you somewhere you can't quite see!!
I bought my MY00 new and have lost about £14,000!! Its not funny, its not clever .......... only mugs buy new cars!!
Parkers give a good indication, in answer to your question

trade in prices suck but TBH try selling the ****** and in 3 months time after no bites you'll bite the bullet and trade in just to get shot.
so not fair

CAPS for a 00MY wagon with 53k is £6825 trade today. £400 less for a saloon. You know a dealer will knock that car out for £8995 or so. If you want the convenience of trade in then you take your chance....

Was thinking new, get the 3 year warranty, etc. but will depend on what I can afford. The trade in's not looking good, so might end up with some kind of second hand TDi. Step down? hmmmm...!

Did you not check the price of the car when you first purchased it with parkers ?
That would have shown you the discrepancy between what it was worth and what the dealer was selling it for.
The above comment is no way meant to be rude, just wondered.

The Fabia is a cracking little car. We're getting 43mpg average, it's group 9 insurance & the 229lb/ft of torque means it provides the odd along the way. Trade in might be pants though, we got offered £2k for a 1998 Saxo VTR against list price on the VTR . (So got rid of that for £2.5k & got a decent discount off the fabia after protracted haggling - they had a waiting list ffs .
