Just to clarify, I'm referring to personal imports when they first arrive in UK.

Ive been lucky with Southampton docks; but Tilbury were terrible; they cars were bump parked and the stereo and speakers were constantly stolen. To add insult to injury the shippers agents charged you for security and then the crooks were too feckless to even remove the keys from the igniton and lock the doors.

Carrying loose parts in a car is always asking for trouble; even if theyre listed on the Bill of Lading; because these 'said to contain' items will never be covered by your marine insurance, no matter how comprehensive.

Yeah, the cretins forked the car off the ship because one of the wheels was bent and scraped and dented the door badly...

Nothing ever seems to be covered by the insurance, and the shipping companies just blame the Japanese loaders...

Is there anyway of going after the shipping companies to get compensations? They seem to be untouchable at the moment!

Not so. According to them the marine insurance only covers you against the ship sinking.

It looks like Ebay would sink without these Dockers.

I dunno, but when I shipped a car from the UK to Hong Kong, the marine insurance covered all loss and damage from the moment the forwarders collected the car to the moment they opened the container at your presence.
Needless to say, the insurance was purchased from the forwarder in UK & underwritten by a UK based insurer.

Then you have awful marine insurance. Even the £10 per car policy thats added to YUWA shipments covers against this. Id have a serious word with either your shipping agent or your insurance broker, as they are ****e.
