Default rear set belt & baby seat

do any of you use a group 0 (0+) rear facing car seat in the back of a newage car ?.

im having a problem with the seatbelt when removing the seat from the car the belt will not give any slack, you have to release the seatbelt buckle remove the seat and let the belt wind all the way in before you can pull the belt out again.

its a pain in the butt, do they all do this or is my seatbelt faulty ?. all the other cars ive used the belt can go forward and backwards unless jerked forward but then they release afterwards anyway.

cheers

Mine does this too - and it was a PITA with the group 0 seat. Better now she's in a full size seat.

I found the best way was to pull out the belt all the way and wedge it with a passing soft toy while fitting the seat.

Same with mine, I have to pull the belt out all the way, hold it in my teeth, feed the belt through the base for the car seat and let go of the belt to tighten it and secure the base.

I guess it's something to do with safety in the event of a low speed crash, as the belt won't spool out any more after the initial pull from rest.

Read your owners manual, it explains this.
Basically, if you pull the rear belt out to their stops you engage the ractchet mechanism, which helps to secure child seats more securely. Try fitting the seat without pulling the belt out fully if possible, then after buckling pull the belt out fully (whilst still buckled) to engage ratchet and pull as tight as possible whilst leaning on it.

Otherwise get an Isofix seat, much easier..!

Jason

yeah i have an isofix seat for my 2 1/2 year old, much easier but I have a teeny boy as well now who is in a rear facing seat for a few months. And yes the seatbelt does hit the stops as it only just fits round the back of the seat so this is the problem.

oh well another 9 months of cursing until he goes into a forward facing seat.

cheers guys.
