Had feature in Japanese Performance in april (front cover tommy kiara skyline), purple coupe from jakan. I hope the world of subaru is as good as i imagine and i will get pics up etc as soon as im a valid scooby driver.

Welcome to SN

Looking forward to seeing your car.

I've always liked the v-tech (civic I assume?)

What are you looking to get?

Welcome to the madhouse!

I just went the other way recently and got myself a (relatively) stealthy cosmic grey CTR. I needed a hatch back but not keen on the wagons so the CTR fitted the bill perfectly. Good luck with the scoob, you will be guaranteed a lot of fun!

Thanks for the offer of the exhaust cookstar, I'm still running her in at the moment so not looking to make any mods just yet but it could be something I would look at in the future. As a matter of interest how much would you be after for it and what does it sound like (how loud at idle/vtec), what sort of noise (subtle yet sporty/quite loud)?

I do some motorway miles so dont want a headache inducing droner!

I might get another scooby in the future but for the time being the type R is a nice new toy which is providing plenty of enjoyment.

beefy

the exhaust has a lovely rumble when at idle, but not too loud, sounds pretty good through the gear then you get to around 5800 revs i believe, and then it sounds truly awesom. some people are dubious about oval tailpipe but it is the best looking one i have seen on a ctr.

well worth it, it is in my shed at the mo, it cost me nearly £350, but i would take a decent offer on it. Fits like a dream as well, whole exhaust swop over in about 15 mins max. (if on a ramp).

based in the ilford area, unfortunatly i have no pics, but the magnex adverts you normally get in max power etc show the ctr with that exact exhaust on, cos it looks so nice..... blah blah

no seriously its a wicked bit of kit.

nearly forgot have red mats also which look cool in all colours of ctr and some clear rear lights which are not to everyones taste but they are there if you want them.

if you do have the exhaust you can have them both for free mate, need the room.

Welcome ed

Made the change myself in October 04. Although I loved the Vtec engine (JDM 2.2 Prelude SiR 202.5bhp) I have to say the Impreza is (for me) a much better car to drive.

I'd say you'd be hard pushed to find a more loyal community as well.

So have you got the car you were after?

I have got the car now. And yes it is very good to drive, on boost it really does shift, corners well and i can travel for hours and not be uncomfy. My vtec was better up the revs though as the scooby does run out of steam a bit up high. But overall pleased with it.
Dont like the chavs/businessmen/van drivers/multipla drivers that feel the need to drop gear to go by on the motorway when im doing 70.

Only thing that needs doing is the gearbox!! Needs synchros but if its not too much more i was thinking about an sti ra box. If i can get itcheap. what advantages does it it give anyway?? cheers, eddie.

Hi chap

And welcome scooby net , the synchros went on my 98 uk turbo recently and it cost about £900 quid from a gearbox specialist .
I dont think sti ra box will fit?, i think it has a differnt diff on it but i might be wrong ?, i only say that because i was researching the same option when my gear box started to go.

I hope you get it sorted out mate .

Cheers Dan

Glad you're enjoying it. A modified Scooby can be made much less breathless at the top end, but it'll never be a Vtec, as that's not the point: turbos are all about mid range fireworks! I'm sure it'll take a bit of getting used to coming from a high revving Honda, but I think you'll find that it's the more satisfying and relevant type of performance on the road.

LOL about the people trying to take you on...you'll get that quite a bit I'm afraid, part of owning a Scooby or Evo, just let them get on with it and ignore them. You have nowt to prove and a lot to loose should the law be nearby!

Welcome and all the best with the car.
