Prova's Racing Division entered an Impreza WRX STI in the A6 class, with Kazuo Shimizu leading the 4 man driver line up which included one Msr. Sarazen of SWRT fame. One of the Prova regulars in Japan's Super Endurance series, Yoshida was also taking part in his first run at the 'Ring.

Starting 42nd, Shimizu passed no less than 18 cars on the first lap as sudden rain made conditions tricky. By lap 5 he was up to 21st. At the halfway point they were 18 overall, and 3rd in class, having at one stage been as high as 9th!

In the last stages, with the car up to 2nd in class, a 10:30am hail storm made for treacherous going, which certianly kept the drivers awake! BMW eventually took out top honours, with the Prova Impreza coming in 14th outright, and 2nd in class.

Not bad for a first try IMHO.

 

Maybe I should have mentioned that Shimizu is the chap who punted the spec C around the 'Ring in the sub-8 video many have enjoyed?
