Exclamation Derbyshire police warning!!

Mods can you please leave this here or arrange a sticky ta.

<public service Announcement>

Not scare mongering but we have had Derbyshire constabulary with us this afternoon to discuss the large amounts of scoobs currently being stolen in the Derbyshire area.

Over twelve imprezas have been stolen in Derbyshire since January this year

They have been stolen by smashing through kitchen windows then stealing the keys. (Something most of us are already aware of).

sadly though lately the new trend is to stake out supermarket/shopping centre car parks then following you home waiting for you to start unloading the car they then run into your house hoping you have just popped the keys on a worktop somewhere (I must admit to doing this!) they then run out of your house pushing you out of the way and off with your pride and joy.

Now we did say to the police that we hear a lot of this anyway and did not want to wind the Subaru community up by posting their comments but we were told this problem has escalated so much so that a least one car a month is being stolen and they have categorically asked us to post this on scoobynet and other forums on their behalf.

"Erm so it's that serious then is it?" (sc)

"Yes most definitely!" (pc)

So if you live in Derbyshire DON'T PANIC!

just keep em peeled and be aware.

Anyone wanting futher details or who to contact at Derby police please send me a PM or contact us direct @ scoobyclinic

<This ends our Public service Announcement>

I'd heard a group of no gooders from South Yorks were targetting Brimington & Tapton (Chesterfield) and Barlborough due to ease of access to the A61 and M1.

I know of one since Christmas that was taken with the "smash through the kitchen window" method - while the occupants with a few days old baby were still up. Car found abandoned at Meadowhead (Sheffield) and recovered.

And a week later one attempted "kitchen window" method but luckily disturbed by a neighbour. These were both in the same area of Chesterfield - less than 500 yards apart.

Thanks Adam for the info on the new methods being tried.

Not knocking Blackjax but what is the point - by and large vechicles such as Subaru's are stolen from home. Assuming the gang is not competent enough to work out it is there in the first place, you get your car back, followed by an early morning call from the gang a few days later. Either to flat bed the vehicle or more likely a clip around the ear to make you tell them the code.

Nothing new here,i had my a cavaliar SRI stolen 10 years ago by sneak in thieves who took the keys from the key hook in the hall way shortly after my wife had come home and apparently she had been followed. Beleive me this goes on all over the country. Never leave your keys lying around keep them in your pocket or in a drawer away from the doors and take them upstairs at night.Had a scooby for 3 years now and never had any problems(West Yorkshire)

****-poor design is the issue there; decent biometric locks check for correct body temperature and a pulse before disengaging.....

That said, I don't agree with the Blackjax comments: I think one failed attempt would be enough to put most theives off!

I dont live in the area, but im grateful that someone has taken the time to make us aware of these incidents...

The fact that it has never happened before to you, doesnt mean it cant happen .no matter where you live.
