Default Has anyone dealt with the user Speed Hunter?

I have sent this guy £1100 in cheques last week for products and not heard back from him, would like to know if anyone has dealt with him and is he genuine?

No, I haven't. Have you checked out previous posts?

I'm sorry to say this, but now is not the time to be doing your research.

Crikey, you've sent £1100 in cheques to a bloke on the internet.

Don't suppose you're interested in helping me get £10,000,000 out of the country are you, you get 20% cut for your trouble, just send me your bank details and relevant pin numbers and passcodes and I'll sort the rest out.

sometimes you unfortunately put trust in people because they are enthusiasts but in fact they rip you off
pm webmaster re this as he may be able to help
contact your bank asap and cancel the cheques
£1100 is too much for me to send unless i really know the person but hope you get money back

As Mulder and Scully would say:

"Trust no-one!"

When I buy over the net, I'll only use a credit card or a service like Paypal... At least you get a chance to get your money back if something goes wrong...

Touch wood though - you might be lucky yet...

If he is genuine he'll understand you cancelling the cheque and should not mind using another form of secure payment. You never know he might be on holiday or something...

You did the right thing, better safe than sorry.... £1100 is too much money to loose for the sake of possibly annoying someone.

A lot of people in this world are 100% trustworthy. The other 50% or so aren't. It may be that the guy you are dealing with / dealt with is honest and just hasn't been able to respond to your requests, but I think most people would be dubious about sending over a grand to someone they don't know.

Yes, sorry to be unclear, scoobboy. I did mean that you ought to have been sure of him before sending a large amount of money off. I'm glad that you seem to saved the situation.

I'd probably do the same mate so don't be to hard on yourself. I'd like to think that all people are as trustworthy and as honroubale as I hope I am. I've sent good amounts of cash to US etc (few hundreds) without problem.

If the parts turn up tomorrow, you've got some apologising to do

This is what post in NSR relates to.

I have not been quite as fortunate as scoobyboy who managed to cancel his cheques. But then I am going to give it a bit longer as like someone said he could be on holiday (I actually went on holiday the day after purchase), or he could have been ill etc. although I could be just being naive.

Hope not.

Jamie

P.S. In what way could webmaster help if this does turn out to be fraud?

Well I've put my detective hat on and tried to reassure myself that this guy is genuine.
This thread: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=421394, kind of suggests that this is the case (look at the last post). Gonna give him a bit longer, while carrying on my investigations

Genuine in that he is a real person.....I definately wouldn't say genuine as someone I would want to trust again. At least I got the goods from him as I bought his scoob. I also know that I bought it for less than he paid only 4 months ago which cheers me up as I've spoken to the previous owner.

I'll reply to your mail soon Jamie, just got back from my stag weekend so a few things to do 1st.

My feelings are that there are a couple of reasons for the bad experiences...

1. The guy is trying to rip people off and knows exactly what he's doing - it may be hard to get hold of him and bring him to account.

2. He lives in a different world to the rest of us and has different views on how to 'do things'. A little trist of the truth may be nothing to him while the rest of us wouldn't dream of the same.

I thought #2 was the one up until your contact but #1 is getting closer and closer.

Oh, and I know exactly where he lives....and which is his garage.....and fwiw, his mobile number. If I had such low moral standards as his, maybe I would farm these out to anyone interested. I definately wouldn't be happy to hear this if I was him.

I do hope he gets his @rse on this thread or PM the people concerned to sort this mess out.
