Default Repair OR Replace

Somebody just asked me this and i dont know, so ill ask the experts..

If in the instance of puncture, do you have the tyre repaired or just simply replace. I understand that people may have different views on this, And would like to hear everyones.

Cheers

I wouldnt have it repaired i would always replace now, as i did with get one repaired once and the next day it had gone down again which meant another trip to the tyre place on the space saver, (the embarrassment of that!) and a waste of time, effort and more petrol. Best to be safe than sorry!

I would have it repaired as long as the puncture was not on the side walls, or if the tyre was near its minimum tread limit.

I was always led to believe that you shouldn't just replace one tyre, full set if the
other 3 tyres are 4mm or under on 4wd performance vehicles. or at very least 2
tyres, replace both rear or front together.(but i could be wrong)

I have always had the puncture repaired when repairable at a cost of about 15 quid
without any problems.

I think you'll probably find out that the repair company won't touch it in either of the two cases you mention.

As for the previous comment of always replace - we'll you must be absolutely loaded then if you replace every tyre that gets a puncture.

I've never had a problem with repaired tyres, but I have only ever had 2 done. I believe there are some strict BS & EU regs to keep it safe. I prefer a £7 bill than a £60 one too.

We wouldn't need so many repairing if all those bl00dy builders would buy proper vans instead of pick-ups and flat-backs. Every bump they hit sees a dozen prospective punctures come flying out I walked 100 yards up the road a few days back to get some timber from the local merchants and picked up 7 screws and nails en-route
