Bought a classic MY00 four months ago from a well known authorised dealer in Aberdeen with a full service and new MOT. After a couple of weeks the brakes started making a intermitent cluncking noise from the front when braking at low speed. Then a month later there was a noise from the back brakes. Anyway went back to the dealer who then informed me that all four disks where skimmed and new pads fitted by themselves before i got the car.
First visit needed 2 new disks at the rear, disks where pitted and rusting garage agreed to go halves on the bill with me, this then fixed the back brake noise.
Second visit front brakes still making noise(technician told me that the front pads did have movement and that the noise is common on this type of car).
Fixed gearbox mounting and i think reset the front pads, no charge.
Took car home still making the same noise.
Third visit technician claims could not hear the noise on previous test runs.
Front brakes needed stripped and cleaned and this would be charged to me.
Had a bit of a discussion haha with the dealer and they eventually agreed to cover this bill.
Finally the noise has gone but now car is way down on boost what do u think?????

The front brakes do make a bit of a clunking noise as they wear.

Skimming the discs is hardly worth the effort as they are £40 a side ...... and it does nothing for their life.

And as for 'resetting' the front pads ..... WTF does that mean?? There is no re-setting to do!!

I know NOTHING about boost, but why would you think its down????

As soon as i drove the car after they fixed it there was no push u back in u r seat at 3000rpm. The car felt really gutless and now when idling the car almost vibrates which it didnt do before.

Also normally would get about 70 to 75 miles for £10 but only got 45 miles this weekend for the same amount of petrol.

Cheers

Sounds like a possible MAF or Lambda sensor failure.
