Default outdated imprezas?

am i the only one to think that the impreza's power are becoming outdated,
i've been thinking maybe in the 90s the impreza was powerful indeed.

however times have changed, makers have gone up a level, whilst
subaru whom had a few facelifts, haven't done much on the impreza...ok maybe a few extra horses everytime, but that covers the extra weight

there are other cars which have improved alot since they first come out

GOLF, from gti---V5, V6, RS etc.
FOCUS st170, RS
CLIO from 16v, to exteme 172 and the V6
seat cupra , FR

and then the super saloons
M3, S4, EVO, MGs,
etc. all have much more power since they were well noticed

then we get to see 4x4s, and some diesels which gives the impreza a run for it's money.

I still think it can't be bettered ...... value for money wise!

The M3 costs £43k, for example.

In the 90's there was a waiting list for the Impreza and the year old cars were making more than new on the secondhand market.

The competition is a lot hotter and Subaru are fighting to stay ahead of the pack - but ahead they are IMO ............ they are now offering free PPP, which takes the standard WRX up to 265BHP.

Its still the daddy!!

Only took em ten years to catch up!

Expect some notable power hikes when the new model comes out, but I guess there has to be a limit if the cars are to retain their "affordable" tags. Insurance is bad enough as it is!

Most cars seem to be slower these days. Eg, 240BHP Astra does 60 in "SEVEN SECONDS". They are all a lot heavier than they used to be, and a classic scooby kicks *** more than ever today. The newer scoobs are ok too, especially the sti's.

i meant, not what it is now compared to other cars, but during the years in production

it is not a weak car
but the hp hasn't improved dramatically during the years compared to other competition

i admit my fault for not remembering for price x bhp x value = impreza

correct me if i'm wrong guys

ie

early 90s ------mid 90s-----200x

M3 286hp-------321hp-------330hp(?) +35hp ---- +9hp

S4 no damn idea 344hp

evo------can't be arsed

golf gti mk1 112hp mk2 139hp mk3 150 hp
mk5 197hp =+27hp +11hp +47hp

clio 137hp 170 or 250 +33hp

impreza wrx 208hp-------(bugeye)215hp--blob225 +7hp---- +10hp

sti i have no bloody idea 265

i cannot compare 22b, wr1, type r , type ra cos i think they're rare (ltd ed??)

my car is 10 years old has 275 bhp and does 0-60 in 4.3 standard! has no build quality at all and is as noisey as f***! i think subaru are doing a great job with build quality now and keeping power realistic and have superb performance figures on paper, there heavier, built properly too and still are as quick as the old cars! if they were building 400 bhp cars they would be 40k+ and at that sort of money appealing to a different class of people........the ones subaru aren't after!

BHP aint everthing though!, just spent 23k on a wrx wagon Sl with ppp and tons of other bits and bobs. It IS!!! the best car out of the competion in my eyes.

S4 and M3 are NOT in the same class as the subaru...as they are not an affordable option, bar being very very similar on performance, handling etc..

Comparable EVO...definately NOT worth the extra 7k+++

Clio.....yeah right!!!.

Golf.....Its a golf and soon they will be stockpiles of used ones (just like the mini), Also completely Mr. Averages car!.

Just done 400+ of the best miles down to the pod this weekend, blissfull 200 motorway miles non stop, followed by a mad 8 mile B road dash, the sound with the PPP is awsome and headturning, and the power is just stunning, and not to mention the handling.

Keep bringing em on it aint beaten by a mile is my eyes!!

i agree pricewise, i am so wrong but........

i wouldn't mind paying an extra 2k, on the original price if
wrx was 250bhp, and the sti was 305bhp.....
AND then you could get a ppp for 2k as an option mmmmm wrx ppp 290bhp

sti ppp 345bhp mmmmmm

yea but you could do all this after the purchase (not at subaru) and get more power for less money!
