Hi,thinking of buying a subaru impreza sti around 7-10 years old.just some questions and opinions on imports, reliability, servicing.I read a report on some website that engines are prone to big end failure,is this in general?I currently own a saphhire cossy which has been owned fro five years and have done the head gasket on this twice so i'm not shy on the tools! thanks in advance for your thoughts

Firstly, Welcome.

You will find that as a registered user, the search feature on this forum is a particular boon.

On a less pedantic note, the knocklink product seems to be a worthwhile investment should you go down the route of buying a classic scoob.

Enjoy,

C

hello m8
i dont care what anyone ses about it, but the scoob is prone to a bit of the old big end fail, i've just had mine rebuilt and its not a cheep job £3500 thats with forged pistons rods 0.45 off the head and a few other odds and sods, so the morral of this story is either buy one thats been done with forged bits or get them their reddies out.
