Question IoM TT

I know we all think our scoobs are fast but I've have just realised how fast bikes are these days from watching the coverage of the TT on Men & Motors.
Laps in excess of 120mph average - jeeeez!!
Couldn't see Mr Schumacher taking his car round that quick?
Any one done a hot lap round the TT circuit in their scoob and recorded the time???????

I think it was Tony Ponds who broke the 100mph lap in a car. Took him several attempts in a Rover 827 Vitesse (stripped out). He was the roads open car for a couple of years so he could get plenty of practise!!!

It was a Rover SD1 Vitesse.

Done it on a bike, superb, absaloutley superb, wish i could still ride bikes but i had an incident with a mini and now i can't ride one so the scoob is my replacement, does a reasonable job too up the cat n fiddle in macclesfield would be good to take it round the tt circuit, no speed limits over the mounatain, shame my cars still restricted i'd have dorris in her metro passing me.

If you're talking about the first (and only I believe...) 100MPH lap of the TT course, it was completed by Tony Pond in a Rover 800 Vitesse on his second attempt in 1990.

Simon

Esited to add: I see that a couple of people had answered..... It was an 827 not an SD1, but it wasnt 'stripped out'. In 1988 he carried a navigator in a standard road car running as the Course Car. This proved to be quite dangerous because no one could hear them coming. For the re-try in 1990 Pond, whos a Manx resident, ran without a navigator; the car had slightly modified suspension running racing tyres and the exhaust was replaced with a slightly louder less restrictive one.
