How do I connect an Ipod to the standard 04wrx head unit, is there a basic jack that will plug from the head unit into the headphone socket of the ipod?
may change the stereo at a later date, at the mo just want a easy and cheap way to get connected.

yep just connect it to the cd changer outlet. you can get a cable from somewhere like maplins i think. you wont be able to control the ipod with this, you will still need use the wheel on the ipod.
i put a icelink in my MY01 as i wasnt going to change headunit and it works fine, controls are limited but i've got 800 tracks in the car

You can get a connector that goes in the tape slot with a jack attached that connects to your ipod very cheap way of doing it http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...27793&doy=8m6D

You could (don't!) waste a lot of time and get nowhere trying to build a lead which connects to the CD changer port...

As this doesn't work, a cassette adaptor or an FM transmitter (I have one for sale if you're anywhere near Brighton...) is the only cheap solution. Be careful as some cassette adaptors just get ejected as the head unit thinks the 'tape' is stuck. Apparently you need to reduce the tension in the pinch-roller wheel spring - if you put the tape thing in and it auto-reverses a couple of times and then just stops this is what's happening.

It may do, although there'll be no text display on the head unit.
The standard unit's a GX-401EF2 if someone fancies emailing them to confirm support.
I'm replacing mine with an Alpine...
