wagons.......
Why is it thery're cheaper to buy and harder to sell than saloons? The way I see it the two are pretty much the same perfomance but wagons have added practicality and (in my opinion) look better as they look less sporty and are more stealthy....................
...Is there something about Wagons I dont know that I really should?!!!!

Nope, wagons are the choice of the discerning scooby driver, and as always with elite groups they are few and far between.
Basically the chav brigade isn't interested in them as its trickier to put a massive spoiler on the back of a wagon.

Agree with De Warrenne I'm on my second scoob wagon (an MY00 and now an MY05) and I didn't really consider the saloon. I think the wagon is better looking, more discreet and less likely to attract chavs/pikeys etc etc. I didn't even consider a saloon when buying my MY05.
I think if you bought a WRX saloon you'd hanker after an STi as it's the next model up in the range but I'm not sure I could live with the gold wheels and big spoiler, don't get me wrong I don't think they look bad but I prefer my cars to be a bit less in your face.
Go for it.

I thought about buying a saloon, but the Mrs had the final say
The newage took some time to grow on me, but after I lowered it and threw on a few front cosmetics.... I now love the look of it

I love this thread! I have a '96 wagon and i love her to bits, 105k and still going strong, used every day, does 25k per year and very rarely complains. She gets called a transit by the other half but who does he come running to when he cant get his ladder in his car??

First time at the Pod and had a great saturday collecting scalps on the strip.
My Reddish Blue UK Turbo Wagon, Scorpion decat downpipe and system, otherwise bog standard.
Worked my way down to a 14.236 on the 5th run easily taking a MIVEC FTO, Civic VTEC & CIVIC Type R along the way; unfortunately lost by a moral 2 tenths to a chipped FQ300.
Well chuffed and it could take days to remove the grin.

Just a shade over £7,000 at auction for a manual GGA '03, although; for that money you could get a GGB 2002 STI 'Wagon too..... Its tempting isnt it?

The Wagon had IIRC higher static ( off boost ) compression ratios so was a bit more sprightly than the saloons, due to the wagon having a TD04 ( smaller ) turbo than the saloon TD05. Also, IIRC again the wagon was a little lower geared ( as a load carrier allegedly ) and a little lighter, which helped the handling / balance, and acceleration times.
IIRC yet again, Wagon was 2 MPH slower at top speed but 0.1 mph faster to 60 mph against similar saloon ( wrx vs wrx, STi vs STi )

Japan; ¥1,415,000 average price. Japan side costs will be about £700; shipping £400, with Import Duty and VAT youll be looking at about £10,500. SVA (not E-SVA and thats as much as Im telling...) will be an inconvenience but its not insurmountable.....
Not an option thats available to most people I know, but there you have it.

Both use the same gearing/TD04 infact the engine is identical. Only later wagons ARE heavier, significantly narrower in width and track and higher, hence the slower figure's out of the box..!
If you doubt this please consult the official Subaru figures..

Wagons are run by some independant rally teams however.
