I have personally been told, by a local car thief, that a Disklok is the best thing you can put on, and seeing as he had his with him when he told me, you can take it that they must be good !

got my dislok for £25 including the bad
only down side to it is you can knock-out your passenger when lifting it over from the back seat as i found out
They are very good but also very cumbersome

The standard sigma alarm, trackstar and a disklock.
I am considering putting black jax on too as if it does go walkies it won't be hard to find and I can stick it back in the garage and don't have to make an insurance claim.

Dipol gearlock is the way to go if he can afford one £200 ish fitted I think.
Disclocks are cheap and effective, but it mean storing and fitting a dam great big lump of metal on the steering every time-the dipol is far easier to use and more of a pain for a theif to overcome.

Disklocks arn't that good. If they want the car they'll get it.
I had a mint Astra GTE 16v with cat 1 alarm and disklock. They took the car off the drive with me asleep with the bedroom window open. I didn't hear a thing. Love to know how they did it. There was no broken glass on the drive even.
I once saw a device called a Barrier dead lock that locked through the gear linkage. That looked good and was easy to engage/disengage. Non of this bulky disklock which you end up bashing half the interior with when putting it away etc.
Or get a black jax fitted, then even if they nick the keys, the max they'll be is half a mile away before the car completly dies on them.

My boss had a 911 turbo (997), locked in his garage with an alarm and a tracker, + a 30lb rotweiler patrolling his grounds, they drugged the dog, opened his remote garage nicked the car and it has never been seen since. If they want it they will get it.

I've got the Dipol fitted on my 53 STi but I've never really worked out how much additional benefit it provides.
Okay, the Dipol stops the car being driven away, but if someone has already bypassed the alarm, immobiliser and steering lock they can simply depress the clutch and roll it onto their waiting transporter.

I dont use any, let them steal it ....they just randonly make up your insurance quotes every year so who gives a stuff if you have a claim or not, dont seem to make a difference.......Bit of a sweeping statement I know but I cant get my head round how insurance companies work ......
Last year ----- insured car for second year running in Wifes name. She now has 2 years no claims discount. I was always a much higher quote for some reason.
This year ------ She has had a claim plus another speeding ticket, her quote goes down? I try my luck and ask for a quote for myself bearing in mind I have zero no claims bonus and it comes out lower than my wife. The previous two years it was over £100 more.
Both quotes are identical low mileage with both of us as 50% named drivers. Dont make sense.

Personally, i've got a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser with an 'AUTOLOCK' from halfords.. Voted as being very good, yes you may knoch your passenger out everytime you put it on, but visually there is a deterent there, rather than just a red flashing light and also, if the ****** is in the car for that bit longer, there is obviously more of a chance of catching them in the act, therefore more of a chance of conviction if they are caught! The more the merrier i think, i don't want my car getting in anyone elses hands!!!!!!!
