look out for the space of time between the 5 owners, if it has been sold on within a short timescale then i would be suspicious. good luck.

Just bear in mind that you've just voiced all the same doubts that anyone YOU try 2 sell it 2 will also have!
Would definitely get an AA or similar full mechanical inspection done 2 check 4 drivetrain problems etc.
If it's dirt cheap & u intend keeping it, might b ok but even so...?!?

Erm, how can I put this to you gently:

RUN AWAY!!!!!

Rule 1 of buying an Impreza (or any high performance car) Decent service history is Crucial!!!

That's to say nothing of the high number of owners and its hard life!

I've never bought a scooby myself but any car with a history like that I would recommend walking away from - particularly performance cars.

Thats not entirely true. They often do come with extensive service hstories...unfortunately in japanese! Some are imported from new/nearly new and have extensive UK histories. You should also note that Japanese cars also have to undergo much tougher inspections (their equivalent of an MOT) than ours do, to the extent that some people would rather sell the car than pay to get it restored to the very high standards required by the inspections.

a 10min inspection wouldn't be nearly enough on a scooby. Unless its condition was so bad that any punter could see it was a lemon! :-)
