Default Road rage psychos!!

Just had a rather major incident with a family of nutters!!

After following a car for a while that was doing 80 down straights and 25 on corners I got bored and went to overtake. No problem right? WRONG!!
As I got level they moved across and tried to run me off the road!!
Luckily there was a farm yard to my right, I put 2 wheels off the road and just redlined it and managed to squeeze past.
Obviously I gave a choice hand gesture and thought nothing more of it.

About 20 miles later I got into town, was about to pull onto a roundabout when their car screeched in front of me blocking the road!! I must have missed it by 2 inches!! The female driver then started screaming abuse at me out the window. I put the car in reverse and as I did so This HUGE bloke got out the car with his 2 sons and started shoutin to "get out the f***kin car car" so he could "F***in hit me"

Oh yeah gonna hang around for that!!! Ended up taking the roundabout the wrong way and gettin the hell away. Last week my step-dad was run over in a road-rage incident!! What the hell is going on with world??

Sorry bout the length of this post, but anyone else experienced anything like this?

my experience would be to ignore or take another route when you bump into incidents like that, had a similar incident some years ago where a huge bloke attacked me while sitting in my car waiting at a train junction, he had just been up my **** in a polo the last miles, i let him overtake me and when he came infront i put my car 10 cm behind him all the way just like he did, he didnt like that at all... so come up to a train junction and had to stop for train passing and the ****** came out hes car and walked to mine shouting and screaming he would beat me up.. he ripped my door open and i was kind of unprepared for the rage he came with he took several swungs at me so i get my seatbelt loose came out the car this huge ****** was holding my shirt while trying to punch me and i ripped myself loose put my sunglasses on the roof of the car went back to him and said ok lets fight, punched him once in the face and he was kinda supriced by that one more time and then a beautyfull kick in hes upper chest area that kinda put him completely off told him to get in hes car and move hes *** so all the cars in line waiting at the cross junction could get past *lol* all these ppl had gotten a good fight for their money, anyway best to stay away from situations like that, i ignore them now or take another route, some ppl are sick in their heads, seems like you just meet some of them

The only thing that really annoys me, is people driving too close behind you. Theres no need for it whatsoever. So when i was going to pick the girlfriend up from her parents (30 mile away) had a guy in a renault megane about 1metre of my rear bumper for half the journey, not only that he was repeatedly moving to the side to indicate to me that he was about to overtake then decide not to bother. When i got on a straight road with a 60 limit i overtook some cars that were infront and managed to get rid of him. I overtook safely when there was no oncoming traffic. Looked in my rear view mirror to see him doing the same only dodging the oncoming cars that were now heading the opposite way to him endangering himself and others, then he sat 1 metre of my bumper again.

**** this. Indicated and pulled over. Once he was passed me, it was time for some of his own medicine. Followed him to the point where he had to get out of his car. Luckily for me it was only 5 mins at a supermarket car park. Once he had parked up i blocked him in by parking in front of his car, and then got out to share some of my thoughts with him. The guy was obviously pretty thick, by saying that "i was'nt aware i was p!ssing you off by driving that close" and started to apologise for his actions then offered a handshake to resolve the matter. Since he was kind enough to own up to being a prat at the wheel, i accepted and we both left it at that.

To recap, my top 3 motoring annoyances:
1. Driving to close to the car in front
2. Not having the ***** to overtake when the road is clear, but more than willing to risk lives when theres oncoming traffic.
3. That pr!ck from the elephant.co.uk tv advert.

I would advise you NOT to carry something like a wheel brace/torque wrench/maglite ..... because, if you get out of the car holding something like that and get it taken off you - then it will be used on you.

Generally, these road rage nutters are big fellas who were bullies at school and take that behaviour into adult life ........................ they do not usually carry weapons!

So, think VERY VERY carefully before confronting these with a weapon ... they are cowards, but ............. think!

I've had quite a few incidents, when they see I'm even bigger than them it tends to fizzle out with words of abuse ........

But, you MUST remember this simple fact ..... MOST people HATE loud, fast cars - they see them as aggressive, they see the owners as show-offs who need a kicking, they HATE being overtaken by one .............

Another reason to run a standard wagon ..... its not seen as a threat, but we all know they are just as fast as the saloon .......

I was in Croydon at a T juction turning left waiting patiently, when white man escort van man come sideways around the corner wheels squealing....

I mutted 'Jesus' under my breath, as it almost smacked the car and the next thing I see in my side mirror is this idiot reversing back up to me (after he wound the speed off his van!)

Door flings open as I start to pull out of the junction and I hear him shouting 'what did you say '****'.....

It took me a second to realise it was actually directed at me, then thought wow how lucky was I that there was a break in the traffic and managed to pull out...

I've had many incidents, but one was funny - bloke in Red 406GTi (I'm no good at French cars) started mouthing at me because he believed he had right of way ..... it was a wooly junction where no-one has priority.

I shouted back and indicated that he should 'shut his gob!' .... as I passed by him, looked in my mirror as I heard screaming tyres - clouds of blue tyre smoke as he had slammed it into reverse and wanted to get at me ................... I just applied my brakes and sat there, waiting for him.

At the end of the day, had he got out, I would have inched forward whilst giving a hand wave out the window (would have driven him MENTAL!)

He got out and looked at me, I waved him over, he chose not too ................ he was one big, tough looking mother too.

Always have an escape route in a queue of traffic, keep 15 feet between you and the car in front - then you have a chance to drive out.

Remember - you CAN LEGALLY speed if you believe that your well being is in danger!!

Pete

ps. Forget about any Black Belt Kung-Fu bollox too!! We are talking the streets now, not some hall with your buddies!! These blokes would rip you apart before you even placed your hands together and did your bow!!

Agree completely, although personally I find that damned elephant more annoying!! :-)

I'm afraid Uncle Pete has a point. People do make inferences from the car you drive and if you overtake perfectly safely in a performance car they tend to want to "put you in your place". Alternatively if you drive at the speed limit in the above kind of car, there are days when every mothers son just has to get past you and often tailgates for miles on end.

Annoying at first, but you kinda get used to it.

I got overtaken by a granny the other day whilst doing the speed limit in a 30! She was inches from my bumper for ages and when a tiny break appeared in the traffic she was passed. To add insult to injury, she called me a ******
whilst overtaking?! WTF is that all about!!

Use a flare? I suspect that you dont really know what it is; it isnt a projectile flare, why on earth would a car have one of those? The flare to which you refer burns with an intense red light and its to be used in the event of a breakdown to warn other road users, dropped onto the tarmac: much like a warning triangle would be used here. If you look at the instructional diagram itll all become clear.

Hmm, seems to me the "I gave him some of his own medicine" makes you just as bad as the original road rage nutter and, as has been seen in recent years could easily lead to you getting killed! I'd say it's safer to assume someone else IS going to be armed an therefore it's best not to get into any type of confrontation if you can avoid it. Obviously in a few of the above instances the guys couldn't avoid it, being "nuttered" totally out of the blue.

There are nutters on the road, best to just chill, let them past and get on with enjoying your motoring.
If you draw attention to yourself and annoy the wrong nutter it could be the last mistake you make, annoying or not!

Just my wee thoughts,

Cal

You MUST recognise that driving a Scooby, with a big F'off spoiler, with a LOUD huge drainpipe exhaust, maybe some loud music too, with a kind of 'attitude' ...... then, sadly, you are going to get trouble ..

People just naturally hate you ............. like you all hate BMW drivers!

A couple of years ago I was on the M6 in the fast lane with a Audi S4 behind me, when there was this slow driver in the fast lane doing about 50mph and no other cars in the other lanes, I know it gets on peoples nerves when people under cut you, but this bloke was taking the p1ss,
so I decided to under take him, when I got a bit further on, I pulled into the middle lane as there was no other cars and the Audi S4 comes to the side of me, and starts yelling at me to get some driving lessons, as I explained to him that the car was sitting in the fast lane he then called me a W4nker, so I told him to F**k-off, he then pulled in front of me nearly crashing into me trying to force me on the hard shoulder, so I decided to stop on the hard shoulder and see what his problem was, as I opened my door to get out of the car, he put his boot down and drove off, kind of shows you that he was all mouth when he was in his car, but when I got out my car, he soon drove off.

I wouldnt be surprised if there was a big increase in the last few years of road rage due to the whole "policing by camera" and the reduction of real time coppers on the roads, kinda makes it easier for your average nutcase to belt ten tons of **** out someone on the road. They would be interesting figures, albeit figures that the police would not really like joe public to see!Just imagine it ,them having to swap cameras for real coppers!

id like to add to that list, the ******* shagwitts who try to race you when your in the middle of town or any 30 limit. these tend to be 1.0l saxo and 1.0l 106 drivers. which infact would supply no competition what so ever!!!!!

Been lucky in that i've not had too many run in's with the whole road rage thing but there's one incident that i still remember well.
Had a Mk3 Astra at the time (Crap I know but didn't have it long) and was just out for a drive one night, i was on one of the main B roads into my town and as such i know the road pretty well. Was prob doing 70 or 80 not legal i know but the usual, "roads were quiet !!". I was approaching i fairly tight left but it can easily be taken at that speed (It was dry too). Luckily i noticed through the bushes on the inside of the corner what looked like two sets of headlights!
To be on the safe side i backed off and started braking a little, thank **** i did, as i turned the corner i was presented with some nuttcase trying to pass about 4 cars right before the corner. At this point i braked as hard as the old astra could and gave the t*t enough room to get back in. Figured that would be the end of it and that he would have skarpered tail between his legs kinda thing, wrong the tool turned round and proceeded to follow me, i stopped at a set of lights a mile or too later where he pulled along side and hurled a load of abuse and accused me of speeding, i tried to explain that had i not virtually come to a stop that we would prob be having this conversation in hospital he swore some more and then tore off!

You lot think you get a lot of s**t driving your Scoobys????

You wanna be on the recieving end of some of the abuse I got when I had a Smart Car!!!!

To be fair tho, I still get poop now, people behind thinking I'm out with the kids because we have an estate car, they soon change their minds when I shift it at warp speed and leave them standing!
