Specials (and now PCSOs) come in only three forms.....
1) People who want to do the job but for some reason can't (money, homelife etc)
2) People who want to do the job but don't cos they earn more in their current job and for a lot less hassle.....
and sadly...
3) Power crazed idiots!!!
Most are 3 and are a pain in the **** to work with, the rest are just fine!!
Fortunately where i work, number 3 suits nearly all of them, except the PCSO who is just a complete ****

there are some threads on there regarding speed cameras too. One thing i saw 14% of cameras can be set up outside of a high accident risk area for revenue generation, dunno how true that is.

Police Community Support Officer...the ones with the fetching blue bits on their uniform.....my Chief was given a load of money and told he had to use it to get PCSOs....he asked why he couldn't use it to get more police officers as we are really short, Uncle Tony said he just couldn't, so PCSOs it was.....

I'm actually not against PCSOs if used properly, i never ever have a chance to just walk about talking to people and being seen...they very thing that makes people feel safe and therefore makes our lives a lot easier.....but i'm reserving judgement for the mo

They are also the new traffic wardens....PCSO's run around our local town (with a police officer as escort) to give out parking tickets.
Apparantly they cannot go around by themselves as they do not have sufficient powers to protect themselves. So a fully paid officer has to go around with them.
Do not really see the point in this. Why not just save some cash and send round a normal officer in the first place
I must be missing something.
As a side note though, the ones that I have met were nice to me.
