Default Spoiler q for all you know it alls

the newage sti spoiler

does it have any effect on downforce (like the cosworth spoiler) or is it merely a form before (any) function?

All I can say is that the one on my MY03 STI wobbled up and down a fair bit. This was unrelated to the road speed or wind conditions, it was simply bobbing up and down in tune with the bumps in the road! I don't know what the handling would be like without it, but it certainly always gave the impression it was more cosmetic than functional.

When Petter lost his in Greece, he complained that the car was more sideways, but the WRC wings are a different piece of kit altogether.

it'll be more for pose value / form than function

the WRC one will likely do something (as can proabably be proved by Prodrive using CFD models) but only above certain speeds and Petter's not too bothered about trying to look behind him much on a rally as I'd have thought that the fins made it a bit tunnel vision backwards...

the way my '05 one wobbles with the bumps, it's hardly a rigid structure for constant airflow properties

having driven classics on track with low, mid and high spoilers you can feel a real difference with the STi5 / 6 spoiler, especially on power circuits like Donington, where the back of the car feels much more planted. it can feel quite loose around fast corners with a low level spoiler.
