Well, the downpipe has been upgraded!
Usually there is a 2.5-3" round pipe bolted to the turbo, with an offset, ovalish flange. Some aftermarket downpipes take full advantage of the flange and are oval in shape, usually 3" by about 5" - called open neck design.
All uprated turbos that are a direct replacement will have the same design exhaust housing as the original, regarding bolt holes / downpipe fitment.
Your OE turbo should be a TD04, there should be a stamp on the compressor cover.

ALSO WILL A STANDARD CAT FIT MY EXHAUST, ITS ABOUT 3.5" AND MUST APPOLOGISE PEOPLE, THE DOWNPIPE FROM THE TURBO IS 3.5"ISH NOT 4.5 LIKE I STATED EARLYER, HAD A BAD NIGHT WAS ABIT TIRED. my email address is misty.moo@virgin.net to see the photos i dont know how to put photos on this sight, so if theres anyone who would like to see them then please email me and hopefully you can tell me a standard exhaust system will fit my existing turbo.

As I keep saying; ALL early non-STI GF8s had a TD04. If yours had a TD05 fitted then it was changed along with the ECU; it wasnt standard. All GF8s had a smaller faster spooling TD04 turbo engine making 220PS, with peak torque at 3500rpm as opposed to over 5000rpm on the TD05 equipped GC8s. GC8 autos also have this engine fitted.
