Hi, I am new to all this. I started my 93 import wrx and a loud "tappety" noise started. A friend who lives away from near me said it might be the hydraulic lifters stuck, is this possible and if so anyone know what sort of job it is and anywhere near Brighton that does it, cheers

 

Unlikely to be this though could be a well worn tappet; though a nosiy tappet is a happy tappet. If it was heads off & rework depending what they found upto £550.

Take it to a specialist for clarification first,,,,,,

 

May be a big end failiure. Our scooby (MY02) made a tappety noise when it had a big end failiure.

hi, just got mine back from engine rebuild and that "tapetty" was the crankshaft fooked

hope it`s not that for coz now i`m 3k lighter!!!!
