Default BYE BYE JAGUAR XKR;)

On my way back to work today at lunch time seen a white scoob classic turn onto the rainford bypass off the east lancs road. so as my lights changed decided to see if i could catch him.needless to say he had well gone, but then a chap in a jaguar xkr decided to try and outrun me on this long dualcarriageway.
sorry to all jag owners but i felt embarassed for him as my95 wagon smoked him. wont be buying a jag! (not that i will be letting the scoob go) !!

If your scooby is standard he wasnt trying! I know which one I would prefer to be drving and it aint the scoob!!!

When I leave work people always try it on with me cos its a scoob but I never take the bait as it is not properly warmed - I am sure there will be tonnes of people who say the have smoked a scoob cos of it!!

I smoked one too I feel sorry for him........
And I think in the XKR there is a button near the gear or something to make it moor sport so he sad to me I don’t want to press that bottom and kill your impreza............ so I smiled and sad to him press the button and turn off the AC too
so its goes like this the traffic light want green and we gooooooo as soon I shift 2 he was like 4 cars back to the end )

Lol, do you realise the power you'd have to be running to smoke an XKR on a dual-carraigeway battle?

To fill you in the XKR has 400bhp and a 0-100mph time of around 10.8s. More critically in the type of 'race' you describe the jags 60-100mph time is around 5.8s and it sure as hell won't run out of puff there. For an MY95 wagon to compete from 40 upwards I'd say it would need in the region of 350bhp and to smoke (my interpretation being, 'leave with relative ease') you'd need probably 450bhp. So, either your car has this or he was royally toying with you

3 car lengths by 100mph is a significant lead. This was a) not an XKR b) not trying or c) you're car is very far from standard.

Why would a Jag driver bother racing a Scooby though ? surely they'd just drive slowly looking superior while puffing on a fat cigar, thinking 'my car cost loads more than yours'.

Whiteout no thoughts the Scooby’s is way from stander the XKR is V8 SC 400hp, but the price off the impreza and the tuning doesn’t come close to half the price of XKR

It's also much easier to launch one of those high powered autos with fancy traction control. You just stamp on the pedal and off you go! No skill required whatsoever. It's the kind of car I'd feel least confident of beating off the lights with a Scooby or Evo, despite the fact that if you get it spot on, you will win to legal speeds, but once the Jag has got in its stride, it'll be a different story!
