So Whats Beaten You...Not of The Mark
Just interested to know whats made your pride and joy feel like a fiat punto (no offence to punto drivers) I dont mean off the mark as not a lot out there will keep up........was a bit ashamed when going from a 40 to a 70 zone I had a 'G' plate VW gti up my **** with young ned in baseball cap....so put my foot down in third and leave him somewhere in the distance, wrong!! This thing stuck to me until I hit 100mph when I decided its not worth getting clocked by the police and calmed down. Was well shocked though thinkin my 01 wrx ppp would pull away from most things out there inclding a 15 year old gti.

I remember when I had my old scoob, The week I had the car mapped at TSL and had new injectors, turbo, intercooler and loads of other things, I thought to myself that you couldnt get any quicker. Wrong
I was on the M6 when I decided to go all out and see how fast my scoob would go, there seemed to be no cars about and no children playing on the motorway, I was reaching upto speed when I saw 130mph on the speedo I saw something in my rear view mirror getting closer, looked down and saw 150mph looked in my rear view mirror again, and all I could see was a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR about 3inches from my bumper, I pulled into the middle lane and he sailed past me like I was standing still, I must have clocked easy 155mph, so the skyline which looked rather tuned up, must have been easy doing 180+mph.
And it was the 1st time I ever saw my Knocklink go into the red.

Seriosly though, for some reason nobody seems to have been up for a bit of fun since I got mine last month. Quite disappointing acutally as the roads I use tend to be very quiet and great for spirited driving.
A CTR seemed like he was going to have a go when we found ourselves on the same stretch of dual carriageway two mornings running but backed off very quickly after the first roundabout.
The only thing I seem to get to race each day is 2 tractors and a recycling wagon over the hills on the way to work near Keighley.

Had a play with a Seat Ibiza not so long ago. I have a few mods and am running around 280bhp as a guestimate. I was coming off a roundabout in second gear and gave it some stick. I managed to keep the distance about the same until 125ish when the Ibiza just sailed past. I stopped and had a chat with the guy. It turned out to be his wife's car and was running ~350bhp. It looked totally standard. He said he knew my car was modded as he is normally past UK scoobs by 80ish. He was still fighting for grip - that's why he hadn't passed me sooner. I would have had him in the wet though

Keep your eyes open for a c reg series 1 RS turbo in Keighley. Very damn quick (2.1 bottom end etc etc)

Yeah less weight, 2WD means 180BHP standard would give a 220-230 BHP 4x4 a good run for its money.
Ah well, just as well i love my scoob

This is a good thread
V8 Jeep Cherokee had me on my toes the other day
Honda Civic TypeR stuck to my bumper when up when my I was running low boost (7psi!) recently.
Closest ever was a Merc SLK 320 off the line which was pretty much neck and neck. Car was not heavily modded then though.
Never had my *** handed to me so to speak, and car now has a few more ponies under the bonnet after some recent mods. I just don't get challenged very often, need to start goading people I reckon.

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of standard cars are getting faster?
A lot of the diesel stuff really surprises me (even though we also own a Fabia vRS...)

i once saw a 911 carrera come steaming up behind me so i thought i would see how my car do against it
(1995sti 2 with exhaust airfilter apexi ecu and decat)
the lights changed and he pulled in to the lane next to me at about 110 he was at the side of me then we both it the breaks and slowed down to 40 as the road infront had road works.
i was well happy, was only 20 yaers old at the time.
i lost but i didnt care

Had a play with a Honda S2000 going onto the motorway today. I've got a 1994 WRX with S/S exhaust and air filter.
Very quick cars, he was behind me and I was opening up a gap, but not that much of a gap. Nice to see an acknowledgment from the driver too!! Made the trip to work a bit more pleasant.

A Diablo completely ate me for breakfast from 20 to 80 - he even gave me a bit of a headstart just to rub it in...
A Zonda on the M25 - alright I was in our V70 T5, but still that car was seriously quick like you wouldn't believe.
Otherwise it's usually diesels catching me unawares!

My sister just sold her sport after a few months. When she got it she was on the phone to me egging me on to race her (bearing in mind I live 200 miles from her) so I duly went down that saturday, destroyed her a few times and went back home again.
Saxo VTS
I did try telling her that similar bhp with only two wheel drive and weighing less than a fart would beat a lardy 4wd motor anyday.
On the flip side, I loved the seats in the Scoob, she had a ltd edition one and I felt I would have been a lot more comfortable driving that 200 miles back than the VTS.
