Default had a cambelt changed and look what they did

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...aig/pully3.bmp

wen i had the cam belt changed on my 95 sti
they told me they spotted a crack on one of the cam pulleys which they then said they broke it off, then they went on to say how they saved my engine just in time

without phoning me they changed the pully to a metal one and charged me extra labour and £50 for the part

now at the time i just paid it
but now i dont think i should have and was wondering what i should do to take legal action against them. as i believe that they damaged the pulley and if the was a crack in it it would have went a long time ago.

basicaly i want £100 extra that they charged me back and the propper pulley for the car which costs £200 (as it is lighter)

does any one think i may have a leg to stand on

Sounds like they are trying to cover up their mistake......or they could just be telling the truth...although I would imagine they would have rang you to show you....as any decent mechanic would do. The fact that they changed it and then told you sounds akin to brushing the dirt under the carpet. However: you need Proof....Did you keep that cracked pulley? If not Try and get it. An independent mechanic could verify if the crack was caused by a blow or something else. If not mate....im stuck for ideas....sorry.

Looks like a clapped out old Ford Orion. Apart from the Focus RS. The whole lot of them look like a right car park full of sh*te.

If it was a stress crack then it would be between the horizontal and vertical faces where the stress occurs , as in u photo that is not a stress fracture as such, looks to me like a blow has caused it . if u have the other bit this will be easily seen

Err, I think you'll find that the orion is pretty damned quick. From memory it does 0-100mph in 10.07 seconds - seriously...

Thats been dropped on the floor or something. Never seen one of them break like that before. Normally straight cracks. Tough things them cam pulleys. Which one did they put on? CHances are if it isn't the right one the timing is out.

The grey rs2000 is pretty cool in that photo and has a turbo, it was a totb2 competitor. Most of those would show a decent scoob a thing or two, appearances can be deceptive!

thanks that is actually realy helpfull
im going to have the rac have a look at it now and i should be able to nail them

as for the demo car it is quick
does the 1/4 in the 13`s
but the build quality is realy bad it looks like its gonna fall apart

the front mounted intercooler came of a truck was cut down and welded by some joe

thing is the car wont last long as they dont actually know how to map car, soon after i spoke to them i felt i knew more than them.
they are 2 ex rover mechanics, says it all rover went bust lol

one last thing they told me the apexi power fc was crap and i should get a DTA thing

Wtf were you doing letting a bunch of skankers like that work on your car? Having seen the quality of their work you should have had more sense than to let the fools touch your car.....

Some people use mole grips to lock the cam pulley's in place, looking at the way the pulley has broken I personaly think this is what they have done, but if you grip them too tight with the mole grips you end up braking the pulley as in your picture. Also beware the other pulley on the same side of the engine might also now have stress fractures, if the mole grips were tight enough to brake 1 pulley it would of also put a lot of stress through the other pulley.

If your in Warrington take your car to Zen Performance, a new company run by Pavlo on this board, his Demo Scooby does 10.4 1/4's @ 130 + mph. He has more Subaru experience than most from full high power engine rebuilds, to competition boxes. He can also supply the excellent Apexi Power FC and map it for a competitve price

Still a crock of ****e. You can get something similar to a 20 year old fiesta and strap a 2 litre lump in it that would do just as well. At the end of the day its still a pile

Was at santa pod a few years ago and this old rickety blue car (dont even know what it was) was showing a few evos, scoobs and skylines the way to the finish line. The thing looked like it was worth £20, and thats with a full tank
