Default 1000 mile oil change

Morning all,
My WRX PPP is at about 950 miles and so obviously due for the 1k oil change next week. Does it need the new oil before taking it above 4000 revs or can I indulge if i get 1000 miles on the clock this weekend before the oil change.
Cheers Barney.

The oil that's in is like p!$$, so wait 'til you get some proper stuff in. When it's done, don't go redlining it straight away, but spend the next few weeks building it up 1k at a time. Peak performance is between 4k and 6k, so there really is no need to go to 7k anyway. Enjoy it though, it has been worth the wait

Be Careful mate, my 04 needed it and in any case, I wouldn't run a brand new engine for 9000 miles without a change no matter what oil was in there

This not what I am doing, just pointing out that the running in oil story may be a myth. (my local subaru dealer also confirmed this)

That engine will be a tight as hell still, get the 1000 mile change done then build it up over time. The car won't be on song fully till 5000+ miles anyway.

The running in oil is a loads of bollocks

This used to happen pre 80's when engines were getting run up on test beds, once they were tested they would drain the oil & check for any deposits.

Its scaremongering at its best

To be honest dont rag it until the oil has been changed just incase there is any castings present in the oil, wait till its proper warmed up then go have fun !!

Trust me i am a doctor
