Default STi Ra

alrite lads

sorry if this has been asked before....im after a Sti RA and might even consider a WRX Ra...

they sounds pretty good..my mate has a Sti Type R (2dr coupe) not slow to say the least...i got a celica gt4 at the moment it should be abuot 320-330bhp ish after i get the remap on the 12th then its for sale...and hoping for low 13s and maybe even high 12s @ santa pod on the 14th @ RWYB

basically i want to change and get a Scooby STi RA...the noise from a scoob is fantastic....unfort they are common but i will not have a slow one..thats the plan....

im after 11/12 second 1/4 mile times...just want to know what sort of mods will i need on a RA to get it....and what sort of bhp the engine and clutch can take??

I know its jap but there must be some problems....anything to look out for....and where can i find them?! there pretty rare....saw a mint one on here a while back but i couldnt get insured then....

oh its either a scooby or a Evo 4 RS and maybe even a Skyline GTR (althought thats 1k more insurance than a scooby)

any feedback would be great
cheers

Mine has a bugeye TMIC, full decat, induction kit, fuel pump and remap and it does 12.5 second 1/4 miles so you dont need to go daft on mods to get into the 12's

is that it? not many mods at all....as it seems so 'easy' to get in the 12s id rather want the 11s then....want something a bit special....more than the average jo anyway....

so what maybe some HKS Cams? Manifold? New Turbo?? the RA meant to be ball bearing tubos? what are the bolt on turbo upgrades for a scooby??

Im aiming to get into the 11's now i have the 1/4 mile bug.
My next mods are bigger turbo, injectors, regulator, headers and turbo up pipe so hopefully high 11's wont be to far away.

what turbo do you plan to upgrade to? do the STi RA have the ball bearing td05?

is a turbo up pipe the same as a turbo elbow?

Not tryin to sound funny but it just seems quite inexpensive to get it in the 11s...the amount of mods arent crazy....which is great news for my bank account....real killer is getting the ecu remapped...

You cant get the ECU remapped for virtually all Classic cars; youll need a replacement ECU. Id suggest an A'Pexi PowerFC from Andy Forrest, fitted and mapped for £750: thatll save £100 on a Knocklink too as you can set it to flash the CEL when knock is detected...

£750 aint bad at all...does it come with the Commander unit? so basically a piggyback ecu like a dastek unichip is no good for a scooby then? something like a motec then?

how much are these turbos that he makes...also where is he located...near london i hope!

The A'Pexi is a replacement ECU; I wouldnt entertain a 'piggyback' ECU on an Impreza. The PowerFC & Commander for £830 fitted and mapped is hard to fault...

yeh that aint a bad price...new anyway...dam scotland..im in Essex!

On the topic of Power FC's im guessing there all universal so you could take one of a evo or a skyline and then get it fitted and remapped for your own car?

They arent universal. You would require the correct Impreza version; and then youd need it correctly mapped. Out of the box theyll destroy most engines on boost using UK fuel.

I think you need the correct wiring harness.

on know i appreciate it will need mapping...coz i know with the dastek unichips there universal they just need a diff harness for each car...so in that sense you could go out and buy if off any car and then take it to a tuner and get him to supply the harness and then he can fit it and get it mapped...
