New car problem "URGENT ADVICE NEEDED"

Posting under new username as my dealer reads this BBS and knows name I usually post under.
Had new WRX 3 weeks ago which has been hardly used as I ve been away and therefore has been garaged.
Gave it a wash and polish yesterday for first time and noticed what looks like a lot of tiny stone chips down one side of the car.
Thinking they were stone chips I rang local paintwork repair guy who on seeing the car said that they appear to be from contamination during the spraying process as there is 1 speck still in the lacquer and 2 chips have already oxidised.
The rest of the chips appeared on the cars first polish/wax (Zymol) as he reckons that whatever was in the lacquer has started to be polished off.
What I want to know is:
1: Can I reject the car, if so in what timescale
2: What do I do if dealer wants to repair
3: What if dealer wont do anything, what is next step
4: Anyone else had this problem, what was the outcome
Thanks for any help

1) Yes you can reject the car - timescale depends on use as vehicle has to be fit for purpose. From what you say shouldnt be a problem.
2) You can refuse repair or allow repair. If you allow repair then it becomes more difficult to reject the car, but not impossible.
3) Citizens Advice would be next step if dealer wont do anything. Also IM.
4) Many people have had this problem and either allowed the dealer to repair the car or been given a new vehicle.
I suspect that what you have found is accident damage already repaired by the dealer. Perhaps happened at dealership or in transit.

This is not to do with whether you signed for the car as acceptable or not. It is due to the fact that you have paid for a vehicle that should be fit for purpose and of acceptable quality. If it is found wanting then you are able to reject the car under existing law.

Why don't you ask the dealer first, and then if they refuse, ask the hordes on here? Seems most people think that the dealers are just going to refuse to do anything before confronting them!
IIRC, many people have had similar problems (with all manner of new cars), of which, I have never heard of one that was refused a repair/replacement by the dealer!

I had the exactly the same problem on my old Golf GTi, the dealer didn't want to do anything about it, rang head office, they said that the body work / paint was covered for 6 years so it should be repaired at no cost. They contacted the dealer for me and it all got sorted.
