Thumbs up Greatest Subaru Impreza Turbo Owner EVER?

I reckon that's me!!

WHY??

I'll tell you why ................

1. I have just averaged 40.8 MPG!! YES!! it must be that COMMA Oil I have used?

2. My Brake Pads are still original after 61,000miles!!

3. My Engine runs fine and hasn't blown-up in 66months of ownership!

4. My NAF MAF Sensor is STILL delivery correct values to the ECU after all this time!

5. I have used all kinds of petrol without Re-Maps or ECU changes!!

6. I don't need a CockLink to tell me my engine is pinking ... amazingly my ears actually work!!

7. I use £15 for 5 litres of Oil that does the job as well as mugs paying £30++!!

8. I have never had the 'benefit?' of some geek with a Laptop and stupid looking Headphone Det Cans!!

9. Amazingly I get along just fine with changing gear at the correct time - WITHOUT lights!!! Yes, I know - I am a superstar!!!

10. After an Oil Change I just start the Engine, no tossy messing about with Crank Sensor Disconnects or Plug Removal ............... and ................ everything still works fine!!

So?

Am I the Greatest of all Time??

Congratulations - but if you're on the same set of of brake pads after 61,000 miles, you've either not found the accelerator pedal and/or the gearstick, or you could have saved a fortune and bought a cheaper car

Correct - match engine speed to road speed, but as a class 1 police driver told me, it cheaper to replace your pads than your engine, and if your using your engine to brake, your in the wrong gear

It's me!
I've just spent the day waxoyling my impreza.
removing layers of soil and dirt then getting covered in the waxy ****ty stuff.
I think I deserve the super hero greatest owner medal!

I still can't get the underseal from under my nails!

I don't do the **** oil change and I am still on the same discs and pads after 20k.
I change my oil after 10k.

Do I win?

Averaging 40mpg+ : is owning a 250bhp car not pretty pointless unless you actually make use of that power sometimes : unless you are scared that any more than 1/4 throttle will result in a blown engine due to your penny pinching servicing attitude !
Or maybe you've disconnected 2 of the plugleads ?
Surely this is more suitable to someone wanting your level of driving excitement

Congratulations Pete,

I didn't know Subaru did a diesel Impreza, or did you make the modifications your self? I know you are an mechanical God, so I guess a quick visit to the most knowledgeable purveyor of motor vehicle accessories known to man (please read dodgy geezer in motor spares shop), a couple of butt plugs and **** rings later, and bob's your uncle you transformed your impreza in to the most econmical in history. Well done Pete, a couple of tips for you.

1) Try turning the car on once in while.
2) The pedal on the right makes the car go.
3) The pedal in the middle makes it stop.
4) The pedal on the left is to put it in the only gear you'll ever need 1st!

Edited is that better Julian?

No, but probably the slowest!
How in Gods name can you get 40mpg from an Impreza turbo? Driving home from Yorkshire down the A1 I tried to stay out of boost (very difficult and the concentration needed wore me out!) and kept my speed "reasonable" and the best I got was just over 28mpg!
There is no way you could have gone above 2.5k rpm! and certainly no boost!

Indeed!

Pete, you forgot to "carry the one" There is only one way you'll get 40mpg out of a scooby, drive it like a saint for about 28 miles then tow it the other 12!!

NS04

P.S. Don't forget to keep all 4 wheels on the ground when getting it towed though, or you'll be the best scooby owner with a knackered centre diff!!

Knackered MAF leaning things out too much

Anyway the greatest Impreza Turbo owner ever has to be one of the following:

Petter Solberg
Richard Burns
Colin McRae
Tommi Makkinen
Carlos Sainz
Etc.

PSL, no chance, greatest **** end ever perhaps.

Surely they dont count as technically they are company car drivers not owners.

Would have loved to see the tax bill for them rascals.

I can, and do, buy whatever car I fancy .....................

Does driving an Impreza turn you into a ******** then, racing around all over??

I can enjoy its capabilities WITHOUT being a pratt!!

I, too, was amazed at 40.8 MPG as the best I had earlier was 38!!

I can only put it down to the COMMA Oil??

No, but I am a bit more paranoid than usual....is that a Maf I can hear on the way out

I'm sorry but I still don't believe 40mpg, did you disconnect the turbo or something? Was a 40 mile stretch of the journey all downhill and you coasted? Do you actually own a Rover Diesel with an Impreza bodykit?!?

Yes: a driver is someone who treats a car like they aren't the owner!

Clear?

Ahhhhhhhhh, that explains why im happy to have strange 12 year old kids use the spoiler on my STi as a picnic bench outside of the local McDonalds then, seeing as its a company car

If I 'owned' it, I probably would have kicked him.
