Question Bugeye WRX questions.....

How much are early bugeye saloons going for with sensible miles & in a decent colour ?

Also based on motorway driving at (85-90 mph)
Typical mpg ?
Typical tank range ?

Not interested in the I got 8mpg around Tesco's roundabout, or if you have to ask you can't afford it responses.
(I do a heap load of miles & want to know how frequently I'd have to fill it )

Thks,

D

I've seen them around for 7-8K but if you want a good low-miler FSSH etc with good mods (morrettes, spoiler, etc) you should be looking at 9K minimum

I think you should be able to pick up a clean bugeye in between £10000-£13500, depending on how clean and wether its from a dealer or private, as for fuel at a steady 85/90mph you should manage about 280-320 miles on a tank (60ltrs) iv'e never bothered working out mpg ( it'll probably upset me at how low it is ) i think its around 20/25 mpg on average, unless you start racing everywhere.

Shaun.

I paid £10.5k for my MY01 Bugeye with loads of mods, low mileage and minter than a freshly polished Trebor Extra Strong.

300+ miles to a tank would be OK, I can't stand doing a longish trip & having to fill up both ways. I'd want a boggo std car which I'd ecutek but otherwise keep outwardly std. Given that the Blobeye has been out a few years, surely it can't be long before the ugly(ier) sister falls a bit further ?
What's the service interval 10 or 12k ?

Reckon you'll get circa 20-24 mpg. If I do a long motorway run and not going past 95 I get between 21-24 mpg (WRX PPP). Best ever MPG was 25mpg and 330 miles to the tank, but given that the tank is 60lt and it took 59.4lt to fill it up, I wouldn't suggest you do this.

Yeah agree with all that's been said.

I always get 300 miles to a tank (at least) and once worked it out to about 26mpg

You'll only get 30+mpg if you stay off boost most of the time, which is against the point of having a turbo. I once worked out that I averaged 23mpg on a mix of road types. I start looking for a petrol station when I pass 220 miles and before 250 miles, the car must have a huge reserve tank because I've never put more than about 45 litres in it!

Service is every 12 months or 10,000 miles and is a lot more expensive than Ford but cheaper than BMW I think.

I have a clean, unmodified 01 bug eye with full subaru history and still under warranty for sale for £7,995 if you're interested - head over to the private cars for sale section. I am in Camberley so not that far from Reading either. If you're interested give me a call.

Cheeky Sales pitch over

I brought the car as an opt out company car and found it to be fine for motorway journeys (200 mile round trips) averaging about 28 mpg. This gave about 250 - 260 miles before the light cam on. It was much better than a classic for this type of use but does ultimately give away some speed to the lighter classics. Good balance between fast cross country and sensible long distance. Also cheap to buy!!

Cheers

Had my 01 bug 14 months now, always returns a steady 26 MPG, that's gentle driving, best was 29 on long motorway run. Mines an EU import in silver with PPP, Prodrive wheels, FSH, 27k on the clock, no dents etc I'd say it's worth about £8 - £8.5k..

Jonathan,
Looks like a nice car for the dosh, with warranty too !
I've already got a green classic, so aren't sure about creating a matching green pair !
I wouldn't be able to do anything until I've sold my 528i se, I might give you a shout when I'm in a position to do so.

Thks,

D

Nice thing about green is that it is sublte - doesn't attract too much attention (chavs or police)

If you are still itnerested when you've sold your car give me a shout
