Default Impreza WRX STi v.8 or Evo 6.5 Tommi

ive had this dilema buggin me for ages now. Ive finally departed from my old car and am lookin to spend max £18 G's, but which car do i buy...

Right, choice of cars....

1. Black Tommi Makinen
2. Black WRX STi V8

Thing is im being steered to turn to the scooby end cos 1 bro already got the evo, the middle one has a civic type r (excellent fun for track days) and i'm thinking i love the sound of the scooby engines, plus no offence to the tommi owners the scooby has a more newer look compared to the evo. then i also thinking the aggressive looks of the tommi are nice.....

Not looking to heavily mod them, and average milage is low too (appx. 6000 a yr).

Help me .....

Zuby.

I considered them both and after seeing the naff interior of the EVO and hearing plenty of horror storys of Rear Diffs breaking, Brake Discs warping, Clutches goin after 3k miles etc etc i went for a 03 PPP STi 8 and so far i'm loving every minute of it. Seemed to pull much harder then the EVO 6 i drove it. Feels a bit more substatial as well, almost as if it's carved from stone where as the EVO was carved from Crepe Paper!

STi 8 everytime mate far superior quality
more reliable
for £18k your not gonna be far of a 04 with possibly
PPP as well
evo6 poor quality unreliable expensive servicing
my bosses daughter has one always something up
with it
only evo worth having 7/8 lot better quality but still
major service costs

STi 8 mate. I've just turned down a MY04 BMW M3 to keep my STi 8 as it's just more fun to drive. Enough said I think.

P.S. For 18k I think you'd be able to get a MY54 STi with just slightly higher than average mileage, possibly with PPP. I had my car (MY54 9000 miles) valued on glass's car guide and it only came up as just over £17,500

Evo for me too!!! Had one, loved them and a sti8 but the evo wins on driver appeal but loses out on servicing costs!

thanx all for replying, sorry for late replies ive had problems with my internet connection and been real busy at work....

the interior does look better in the scooby...

ive been to my nearest mitsi speacialist (ware garage) and they were real helpful in there. they seemed professional and were willing to help.

the local scooby dealer i went to, well errr... not entirely sure. it was in watford.... where are the good subaru dealers in hertfordshire.

i think best thing would be is to have both for a day

The TME or Tommy Makinen Edition was the last Evo 6 before they bought the Evo 7 out. Regarded by may Evo people as the best. Standard was 280bhp but with a few simple mods 300 or more can be achived. I knew one at 400bhp but it was a bit extreme to drive. They have small fuel tanks so range is a bit limited.
I think it goes back to do you want a car for performance easy to live with, or an out and out ***** out car for near death experiances.
They also seemed to hold there money well.

On the MLR there's a guy that's got a FQ400 moving from a Mak but now he wants the Mak back. They must be fairly good

You could always try Quenby's in Bladock, always very friendly and helpful but I've found that they tend to be a little pricey, hence why I've ordered my scoob from Research in Nuneaton (60 miles away from me)
