Just phoned them up he said as it's an import from Japan it won't have any service history (wasn't sure said his boss knows more about it), and doesn't know if it was serviced in the UK (again said his boss knows more about it).

I thought all imports would come with some kind of service history?

Should I stay away and continue my search? LOL

Get a manual, unless you only have one leg.

pretty much most imports have their service history binned as its no use to anyone apart from people that can read japanese.

it is helpful to have it though as you can see if the mileage has been clocked.

it sounds a bit strange that the seats fold back in the rear, as they are not meant to! sounds like they are guessing on some of it to me.

I think it may be an auto box though.

Just because they dont have a Jap service history doesnt mean they're dodgy. Mine is a similar era car and it didnt have any. Has been totally reliable in the 2 years I've had it. If in doubt, have it inspected.

As above though, I would recommend getting a manual as it will be a real pain to sell on again. You should get a decent manual for around that sort of price

So you reckon it might be worth going to see?

I have to get an auto because my brother sometimes drives my car, and he can't drive a manual because of problems with his left knee.

Are you going with auto because you want auto, or because you want an impreza, and this one is cheap? An auto will not give you the full impreza experience.

This one is manual and the same price:

Edit: You've answered above.

Sam; virtually all Japanese cars are auctioned without their service books. Its virtually unheard of for the service book to be completed, all dealers service records are computerised. Whenever I say this several people usually argue with me as they have a Japanese service record for their car... all I can do is point out that I see approaching a thousand Imprezas auctioned in Japan every week, and thousands of other models and Id say that less than one in one thousand even has a book..... With regard to the vehicles mileage; the best way to establish this is to see the auction appraisal sheet. Of course a ****-pile from a docks auction wont have one, but a decent car should.

If your serious about this car get a full AA or RAC report.

It would be the best couple of hundred quid you could spend.
