Question Scooby Magazine

I was out at a number of newsagents today looking for this mag but no joy. Now I know their adverising blurb talks about this being stocked at over 1200 newsagents so why can't I lay hands on a copy?

I don't want to subscribe as I prefer the experience of going out and getting the mag myself, along with other reading materials.

Anyone throw any light on this please?

Cheers

Like a lot of new things it will take time to grow but i expect within a year or so you will be able to get it at your local news agent.
Subscribe, its a lot easier.

It has the makings of a great mag, I for one look forward to getting it each month. Agreed it still has some way to come, but that's something that will, hopefully, come with time and readership support.

I tried to order it from WH. Smiths, it took them two weeks to get me a Scooby Doo (the cartoon) magazine, after three weeks they gave up and said they couldnt get it.
Tried ringing Scoobymag but they never answer the phone,I wont order online as I will NEVER put my bank details onto my computer just in case hackers get in.

Because we don't have the resources to sit somebody at the phones all day, we sometimes have to leave it to the answerphone. This is also the case when we are on another line. Some days are manic, especially between 12 noon and 2pm. And because of the length of time one call lasts (avg. 9 minutes) it was decided that an automated (holding) system would be an unecessary cost to callers and more than likely frustrate them.

Not at this moment. A Plan is in place which will rectify current distribution problems

Not before time; Ive given up trying to find ScoobyMag. Your distribution sucks, how long can the magazine survive like this?

That's cheap postage. I can't get it for anywhere near that even with our Royal Mail discount.

Distribution hasn't been the best in certain areas. Independent publishers, like us, get a raw deal. If you don't know the secret handshake, you get a bit of a cold welcome from certain distributors, making prospects unviable. We are also limited by the 'competitors' - we can't use any of the distributors that are involved with any of the popular Japanese magazines.

One major problem we've encountered is the newsagents reluctance to stock a specialist magazine. They take a copy or two to try and if nobody goes in to buy that issue, they turn round and refuse to stock it again, making it harder and harder to find.

Thanks for the comments, especially the positive ones. Unless you've ever done anything like this, you'll never understand the complications, costs and time involved for small independents and who don't have the monster budgets and abundance of personnel that the big publishing houses have.

Enough excuses from me.... I've got Issue 8 to finish!

I really enjoy the magazine, I can’t buy it locally in any shops so I subscribed on-line, no big deal...

Can't see why Redline would want to distribute Scoobymag even if it was free!!

They did J Tuner because they run J Tuner

The problem that Jon has is that he is "independant" and breaking into the areas covered by the "nationals" is not easy

But Stick with it Jon

It's a great magazine.

However, some of the articles take forever to come round. I have not seen write up on Scoobyshootout yet and now we have had TOTB. So when it comes out it will be old news. Such articles could be speeded up and brought to the front as there are articles in the magazine which can go in any issue really.

IMHO.

p.s. Makes superb bog reading which annoys **** outta my dad

Unfortunately, we were subject to Redline and J-Tuner publishing their articles first. Because they work fairly far ahead, it caused us a bit of a delay before we could print SS2.

Bog reading - the best way to enjoy any magazine. There is a method of hygiene to be observed though - sit, read, flush, wash, pick up magazine, spray freshener

Thanks for the responses. Seems if I don't subscribe then I'm going to have a devilish time finding this mag. I don't want to subscribe (personal choice) so will have to wait for the distribution network to get better. I was really looking forward to supporting this mag but I wish them every success.

Anyroad jap performance mag will have to continue to be my mainstay for now.
