Default ****ing hell, how much fuel!!!

Ive had my bugeye STI for a wek now and how much effing fuel have I used. Jesus, I need to get another job just to pay for the fuel. Saying that, I have had loads of fun wasting it.

I actually got 260mile out of a full tank of optimax. I do 40 mile per day to work and back, and I was driving like a bitch for most of it, but If I drive carefully it's gonna cost me about £45 a week to get to work and back.

My Civic type R used to cost me £35 quid a week, so it's not to big of an increase, considering the difference in vehicle.

I was spending £500+ a month on petrol in CK1 so a Scoob certainly wasn't the most efficient method of transport for my old job doing 40k miles a year! Boy was it fun going to work though.
Don't even get me started on track day fuel though!!!!

I get 38 MPG ............

I don't consider petrol costs to be much of an issue really - after you have 60k miles under your belt you will be achieving the same!!

What total utter tripe. There is no way you can get 38 from an old MY00 wagon, unless of course you have swapped the engine for a 1.3 Justy.

I get 32MPG all the time ...

38MPG on a run - WITH a TopBox on AND towing a 800kg Trailer!!

And I ain't lieing .............. not sure whats happened as it used to be a pathetic 25-30MPG ........ I do use the best Oil, however - maybe thats it??

Also, its been run-in superbly .... rarely goes over 3000RPM and NEVER, EVER gets over 5000!!

Cutting the engine now and again on the over-run helps somewhat ..... BUT, you need to be highly skilled and experienced like me before you can pull this little trick off - so, DON'T TRY IT!!! If you do, always keep the key turned so you have steering control!

I like the power of the car ........... and you don't need more than 5000RPM to see off anything that fancies its chances!!

Revving it any more is a waste of petrol ..... as has been proven here.

it's a scoob - they all have a drink problem. if you want t total get a car with lpg.

just enjoy it and see it as a hobby not as an essential that you hate paying out for!

I think the problem is you have a large fuel leak.

Open the bonnet....if you see what resembles an engine, then you need to get to a garage ASAP and get it removed.

Afterwich, it'll cost nothing to run

i get 120 miles out of a tank full! i can only get about £40 in it so i'm guessing i have a fairly small fuel tank!

280 max i got with MY04 Sti
80 was the worst

Usually 260 using motorways & around 200 stop & start

My opinion is why buy a performance car & worry about fuel, buy a 1.0 fiesta next time

first weekend i had my car (my99 impreza turbo) i put 42 quid in it saturday morning to fill it up, drove it how can i say "progressively ?" end of sunday night used all said fuel.. looked at clock had done 150 to the tank i was very p'd off cos i'm thinking oh ****e how much is this gonna cost me to run.... but all has prevailed i can get a maximum 350 miles to a tank if i drive it normally (well okay if i drive boringly) 60-70 mph thats on a run mind ( down to heathrow and back ) so not too bad... only ever use optimax done the stupid thing of putting a tank of normal unleaded in i swear the difference is remarkable..
