Question

Does anyone know if this is just panicking based on rumour or whether the former blockaders have actually said that they're going to restart the protests?

I'm not at all surprised after what's been said in the last few days ... last nights "newsnight" was a bit of an eye opener ...

I managed to fill the Tank to the brim this am . . . glad I did now . . . That's if it isn't just hearsay ..

This is pathetic!

If everyone didnt rush out and start panic buying and just went on with their normal requirements, the fuel would last at petrol stations for weeks longer!

To be honest, I am getting a bit fed up with this. Its obvious that Labour aren't going to bend, so we just P45 them come election time. I have bought an Evo and I cant even drive the B4stard because of this ****!

Enough already!

well loads of people at my works have just gone a hunting for fuel. We also recieved a phone call from one of the largest sports retailers in the UK telling us that it's starting back up again and there staff is out getting fuel.

If its isnt true then there will still be an impact due to panick buying.

This government are fools spouting off there complete dismisal of the populations concerns on fuel pricing. There reaction of seeking to change the law to stop future blockades is arogant at best and facist at worst.

here we go again!!

we just recieved a company wide email telling us the blockade is back on.

The source of this info is from a private call to one of our employees from her friends in greater manchester police.

Hoax or no hoax, it's having the desired effect of causing people to panic buy, which is causing the depletion of fuel supplies.

When is the government going to realise that a few hoaxes will cause people to panic buy, thus kick-starting all the hassle all over again.

I saw most of the stuff on this when I was in Paris last week, so did not actually get involved. Mr Blair said that he'd not give in to protests like this. hmm, but you give in on the 'we don't talk with terrorists' by letting know terrorists free under the Friday Armistice Agreement (or what ever it is called)

I think Tony needs to realise the he is in no way, shape, or form, getting another term when he's up for re-election.

I do agree with the protests, but I do feel sorry for the small companies and others who *will* go out of business because of this. Maybe this will make Tony realise that he *has* to do something, and that a few hoaxes or proper blockades *will* cripple the country in a most severe way.

Spot on Markus. The minute anyone breathes anything about fuel blockades or shortages for the next three or four months, the whole country will descend on their local garage to buy as much as they can.

Surely everyone has just filled up, so why the need to go and buy five quid of petrol?

Chris.

Just heard a rumour that after Gordon Brown's statement last night that the budget would not change WRT fuel prices, the blockades will start again at 12.00 today.

Might be just a rumour... however I know Gordons statement did sound like an 'up yours we'll do what we like' which is bound to anger some people.

I can confirm that petrol stations in both Swansea and Cardiff now have long queues building up.
Oh well!

Heard this too, so rushed out and filled up with 95 (all that's available) and Octane Booster (so scoob doesn't learn bad habits)

As I drove back, noticed queues building up

Some of us have not filled up as we thought we'd take the "sensible" approach and not panic buy. Given the current status is it any wonder that the government finds the majority of the population panic buying - it's a little bit like Women and Children in the lifeboats first - can't see that happening these days either

More cycling - and it's raining too

Agreed - I haven't rushed out and filled up all my old kettles and that iron bath in the garage with go go juice.

To be honest I won't rush out now but then I can work from home, otherwise I might be tempted to rush down to the local juice distributer.

No news on the bbc or sky yet so it could be a hoax ?? Doesn't matter cos everyone in the office now knows this rumour. The pumps will be busy this luchtime !

I'm all for it !

Panic buying,

I have to fill my tank once every two days, otherwise I cannot get to work and will not get paid.

I therefore panic easily.

I think there are a lot of people in my position - are you surprised we panic buy ?

My tip off came from the manager of a local filling station. She got a fax from HQ mid morning.

I arrived with no queue, but there was a 200m in the time it took me to fill the Trouper.

Last night's press statement and today's Times interview of Brown could only be regarded as arrogant and inflamatory.

Apparently it is a rumour! A Welsh news agency received news, which was then broadcasted without checking first.

The queue's have started in Wales again as cofirmed by our Cardiff office.

Even so i'm still going to fill up tonight if i still can ...!

I read something last time saying someone had caused an 80 house evacuation by storing petrol in their basement. They had filled wooden barrels, plastic icecream boxes and even a wheely bin! To can it off it was all leaking and they had to put dry ice in to nuetralise the petrol!!!
What a nutter!

I've just had it form the horses mouth, the hauliers have been faxed and asked to start action again in response to the arrogance of the comments made by Gorden Brown and his envoy on TV last night.

the radio in manchester is now spouting out there is no blokades.

Doesn't really matter now, there are queues 1/4 of a mile long near me.

I think a course in PR and diplomacy is required at no10 and no11 these days, what a **** up.

The rumour has done its job though - queues at all my local stations and more people joining than leaving.

I'm looking forward to travelling down the A12 at 50mph again singing to myself, perhaps I'll get a pipe and a cap, pretend Im my grandad ??

Oh yes, the Asda petrol station at Pudsey has just been closed. Although I don't think they aer out of fuel. A contingency plan seems to be firing in.
