£ 1.00.9 a litre
Just been to fill up my scooby at the shell garage in lincoln and started to fill up when i noticed it was over £1 a litre when i went to pay i said to the woman behind the counter when do i get my tickets to america to help mopping up the water. and continued by saying there must be a reason its this much must be raising money to send help.
noticed i was digging a hole and just walked out the 80's throw back didn't see the funny side.
think i might have to travel 30 miles now to the next shell garage what do you think.
cheers

Just been to the local (or what will be) Shell Garage - 101.9p a litre of Optimax! Thank God I was only using the cash machine.
Shell garage near my current house is 20 miles away...but cheaper I hope.

Diesel and Unleaded will all hit the £1 a litre mark within 14 days saw a letter from head office of a major petroleum company yesterday. Which means we can all expect to pay about 105p for optimax.

There needs to be more petrol strikes again!!!!
The Govt. need to lower the duty on fuel!
Its about time the public took matters into their own hands!

I agree, we get fleeced hands down by this useless money grabbing Government and we need to take action as a nation to stop us getting shafted any more.
We just all sit back and let it happen!
If i saw that waste of skin Blair in the street i'd **** him.

lets knock £1 a gallon off petrol and diesel
how much do you reckon the shortfall in spending would be ?
couple of million ?
wrong !!
cars, planes, buses, trains, coaches, boats, motorcycles, scoo ters, military vehicles, trucks, industrial machinery, generators etc etc etc
all use fuel
so how many gallons at £1 less
average mileage car driver uses about 400 a year so that £400 per car.
10 million cars ?
£4,000,000,000
is that 4 billion in just lost car revenue ?
what about all the other machines that use fuel ?
double it, treble it multiply by 10 I honest dont know
What I do know is that we are talking billions of pounds which has to come from somewhere.
Now I dont like paying tax but I see it as a trade off. I am sure the government could simply add 5p to income tax and fuel would decrease next day but it would hit you in the pocket come pay day. At the moment you have to choice on the amount of fuel you buy if its a direct tax then you dont.
What I am for is spending the money more efficiently and would hope the government are looking to spend the money wisely.

my mistake just looked on the net apparantly the uk has 23 million vehicles doing an average of 10K per vehicle
so that 30mpg per vehicle = £333 per vehicle in lost tax @ £1 a gallon
23,000,000 x 333 = £7,659,000,000
7.5 billion
so that 30mpg per vehicle = £333 per vehicle in lost tax @ £1 a gallon
23,000,000 x 333 = £7,659,000,000
7.5 billion

what about the people that don't drink then:
the things that **** me off is:
i pay tax to buy a van for work
i pay tax to insure it
i pay road tax
i pay tax on petrol
THIS IS BEFORE I GET TO WORK
then i pay tax for my dinner
i pay tax for fuel
tax for clothing
tax for tools
then i get payed which i also get taxed on
So i get taxed on the money i earn then for everything i spend it on i get taxed again just for pleasure
why not just bend me over and shaft me in person mr Blaire

Oh! so now the car is the only method of transport is it? I bet if there was enough oil to allow the car to run forever people would lose the use of their legs!!
Don't make me laugh, the car is not the all encompassing panacea of modern means of transport. When oil finally runs out how will you get to work then? If your car breaks down how do you get to work? How do people who don't drive get to work? How do the under 17s get to work/college. My veiw is if you don't like paying for petrol then don't drive!!! it isn't rocket science is it. I don't go out much because I don't like paying £2.50 for a pint of fermented water, it's my choice. It's also your choice whether you pay for petrol, so don't whine about it.

Tanked up this morning in Amblesideat bp and paid 103.9p per litre, the guy behind the counter wasn't impressed when I asked if he would like a pint of blood aswell. Another bp on the M6 on the way back down was 106.9p .
ROBBING B@STARDS. All because they can get more money by shipping the petrol to the States. I'm sure George W.would do the same for us. !!!!

I work 6 miles from home. For four months of the year I cycle, the rest I use my car. I'm not saying you shouldn't have a car, but don't go on about how much fuel costs. If you don't want it then don't buy it! Roofer man get a hand cart!!! Then you could charge less! How do think roofers got around 100 years ago?

I cycle or walk to work every day, my wife uses the car for school run etc. This argument is about paying a fair price for fuel and not suffering the consequences of shipping fuel to the states where they pay a fraction of the cost for fuel that we do and use a damned sight more.
