Default NEC Car parking "is it SAFE"?

Is Car parking at the NEC safe, i have heard a few horror stories involving parking Scoobys there. Are these founded or not? It is only for a day, but a day is all it takes.

Well it's more near to solihull than brum, but i wondered do the toe rags sit and lie in wait for you to park up. The trouble is , is that my wife is going to see some show there next week and is going to take the car in for the day at the parking area.

Never had a problem either. I guess its a bit of a lottery. Its the usual thing with this country, they charge a fortune to park but if anything happens to your car they just shrug their shoulders and point to the small print

I've parked there loads of times and never had a problem apart from the cost..!

Seriously, if you're going for a day then the chances of having it nicked/damaged is no higher than anywhere else. The place is so vast you'd have to be followed in to be at any risk..!

BTW I live 10 mins from NEC and my scoob sits quite happily on the drive as does the lads 05 STI at the end of our street and two (yes TWO) other's on the same drive in the next street..!

Most of the people who ****e themselves about Birmingham have either never been anywhere near or extreamly unlucky (or foolish..!)

Been there a few times before and have had no such problems, the only problem i would worry about is where i left the damn car in one of the 10,000 car parks the nec offer!!

The airport and train station is usually more targeted than the NEC as the theives know how long the cars will be unattended for.

Take the usual precautions of physical and obvious immobilsation instead of just relying on the electronics and, plus keep your toys hidded you'll be ok.

Obviously if your stickered and spoilered to high heaven your car will stick out like a sore thumb...like candy in a sweet shop

I have done a lot of work over the years at the NEC ans Metropole hotel just next to the NEC
Never had a problem with the scoob, even leaving it for a few days. Always used a discloc as a visual deterrant mind and cleaned out the interior, glovebox and boot, even left the b/box open!

However the venue has a bad reputation and it seems deservedly as well. Lot of local scum prey on the hotel and car parks as they know it is easy pickings, out-of-towners coming up for the day, leaving their vehicles for hours at a time. lot of business people in nice cars to pick on, etc.

I would take the train if i had the choice and not carring a lot of kit with me.

The hotels are bad as well if you are staying overnight.

I stress this was at different times, sometimes after a 2yr gap, and probably because he trusted the secure parking areas too much.
