Tek 3 from Andy F
Had my car remapped by Andy F, www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk the difference is unbelievable it’s like driving a different car. The power delivery when the turbo kicks in is so smooth and pulls much, much harder. One of the most noticeable things for me, is when i take it on the back roads that I know like the back of my hand, the torque it has when exiting tightish bends in 2nd and 3rd is mighty and before you know it your needing to change up a gear when you normally wouldn't because you going so bloody quick.
The only problem I have now, thanks to Andy, is that I am going to have to get big brakes...Bad One lol !!!
Nice one Andy, I reckon your becoming a legend !!!
2002 WRX, full H&S decat inc. up and down pipe.

Without meaning to take anything away from Andy Forrest - who (along with Bob Rawle) is probably considered to be about the best mappers in the country - those bhp figures etc won't be much different if you get an equivalent map from several other reputable (good) mappers.

The bigger difference is the way the power comes in much earlier and lasts much longer - figures are all well and good, it's how the car drives that matters, IMHO.

i have been quoted about £500-£600 for very similar with another WELL KNOWN scooby tuner,
so i wanted to compare prices along with what im getting and the price also

Bingo - music to my ears......"i want performance without the engine going bang".
Making the decision to mod my pride and joy is a little worrying (for me anyway) due to some of the horror stories out there. It's something I've always wanted to do but have taken my time deciding whether I should or not.
It sounds like as long as you go with a reputable mapper, like Andy F, you should be in safe hands.

I'm no expert but have seen a few posts on here about TSL 333. Have a look on http://www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk/news...0002&detail=45, their upgrade gives you 333bhp/333lb/ft.
It's designed to build on your existing PPP stuff, correct me if I'm wrong anyone?

Secondly, the PPP for the STi is basically an exhaust (with sports cat) and remap - plus fuel pump IIRC. The TSL 333 kit replaces the exhaust, the fuel pump and the re-map, plus adds an air filter upgrade. i.e. doesn't build on the existing PPP stuff, it replaces the same things - and runs things a little harder to get more power/torque.

It would be more expensive though, I'm guessing that you'd be looking at the usual exhaust, filter, fuel pump, remap scenario AND a bigger turbo, injectors etc.... Then you have to consider the longevity of the transmssion.....
I guess you get to a point where you have to ask yourself whether it would just be better to trade up to a higher spec std car!
Not going to stop me getting mine decatted and re-mapped though, although I think as it's a light classic, 260ish bhp/ft lbs torque would be more than adequate......
But everyone seems to say that.....right before the go for even more mods, don't they?

I have to agree with most posts on here, the 268 BHP and 266 ib/ft i have, (2 RR tests), are ok, but the difference in the drive is awesome. The power delivery and way it pulls like f00k just make me smile all the time. The sad thing is, i want more, cant afford more, and etc, etc, LOL.
A TEK 3 really does change the car. Smooth power aint the word. My 03WRX used to be wnak in 3rd gear up the revs. Now it is nice. It is just 5th that is wnak!

Hi Guys i have the TSl 333 kit on my Sti and yes it pulls like f00k all the time,
so nice to drive, i think the 6 speed STi gear box makes a lot of difference too as the gears are a little shorter so you dont have to change down as much round country roads as the boost comes in a lot faster than it would in the longer geared 5 speed WRX.
Was blasing around some nice B roads i know the other day and 4th and 5th gears is all you need to keep it on the button, sometimes 3rd for the tight corners and boom its away up the gears again..
scoobys are fab, HA!

The WRX engine as a whole is capable of much more - I believe Niinybobs is in the 400bhp region now, for example - but not with the standard turbo

The 01 onwards WRX is indeed well capable of producing 'like for like' figures with the Sti. Ninnybobs and midlife's cars are 370 and 400 bhp both running on TD05-18G turbos with fmic/ind/exh/inj/tek3
