Bugeyed Impreza-can u make it less ugly??
I know this may be a silly question, but can u?
I'd love a Scooby of some sort but the older ones generally have more miles. For my ~£11k budget i can get a bugeyed WRX, but that front end would make me want to drive it into stuff!
Can u make it any better looking, and anyone have some pics?
ALso, how does the performance compare to a 'Classic' WRX?
Thanks

A few pictures of my old bugeye here and here
You can go for the Morretes or Prodrive headlamps which drastically change the looks - for the better
For your budget you should be able to get one with a few nice mods so keep as eye on the for sale forum.
Now watch as hundreds of classic owners post how bugeyes are heavy, slow and ugly

As far as performance is concerned, it was criticised for being slower than the classic it replaced in a straight line. This is due to the power to weight ratio, given the new age cars carry 150 extra kilo's. The turbo kick is also more prominant on the classics and hence they give the impression of being faster.
The Blob-eye's (2003 onwards) had a revised ECU which gave them more torque low down and hence made them easier to drive faster. Get the Bug-Eye remapped and it will be as fast as a remapped Blob-Eye with all other mods being equal. Handling on the Bug-Eye is better than on the classics due to a 250% stiffer chassis.

i dont like the bug-eye buti dont mond it so much with the JDM STi 7 gas lamps in.
if i were you id go for that red 03 WRX as its a cracking price for the miles etc and is pritty standard and doesnt appear to have a bad history.
my mate has that model with the PPP and they are damn quick too and very good handling etc.

I own a bugeye and I love it. Admittedly given the spare cash I'd probably have the morette light conversion and I've replaced the orange repeaters and reflectors.
Oh...and I'd like the newer (bigger) scoop and an STi spoiler. And OZ Racing Superturismo GT's.
But I do love it.
(plus I'd change the CD head unit because it feckin crap)
