Anybody help me?

How much do they cost and are they hard to fit?

BR Developments

Dont cost that much, i think they were around the £80 mark when I did the group buy all those years ago.

Not too difficult to fit, a pair of wires goes to a "microphone", ie the knock sensor itself which you bolt to the engine block in a suitable place (there are bolt holes ready for this).

And the other pair of wires need a good IGN and earth signal if I remember rightly.

Lambda is a little more tricky as you have to cut into the ECU wiring loom

Default knocklink

Think its £85 for knock and £75 for the sensor.

The knock link is easy to fit you can not do it your self though as it needs setting up properly otherwise there is no point in having one fitted

IMO, they are relatively simple to fit and set up.

The only two factors in making sure it is set up correctly is the location of the sensor and the sensitivity dial of the unit.

There are numerous threads that tell you where to place it (off-centre right-rear of block normally when facing it).

My sensitivity is on maximum and it works perfectly.

heres a link on where and how to fit one and many other bits.
can not be that good if its set on max surely can it. might only be picking up the big cracks of det what if its needs that little extra to make it just right or you may be just picking up engine noise have you ever had the red lights on even

.

It is set perfectly for my car.

By the time you get to 5,000 rpm the second green is flickering (engine noise), an occasional amber flickers at a little higher RPM. Red only flickers on det - not at all on my currently safe-as-houses map.

I've checked with det cans (both diy and electronic) and have the Power FC Commander as a secondary safety monitor. I have also lowered the point at which the ECU reports det (flashing CEL).

I am confident that the knocklink is working as is should. There are others who run with the same setup.
