1) Watch your licence!
2) Watch where you park it
3) Watch your rear view mirror
4) Watch your wallet!
5) Watch out for PSLewis on here ;-)

Seriously, Warm it up -figure on about 10 miles- before you gun it, and let it cool down before switching it off. Don't scrimp on petrol or oil: use SUL and a fully synth oil of the right grade, adhere to the service schedule, don't take short cuts if you decide to modify the car, consider investing in a Discolock.....

Above all, enjoy it!

I'm picking my black 03 STi up tomorrow. Have mixed feelings of fear and excitement. I wonder, has anybody heard of a write off on the first day of ownership? (I have'nt even driven one yet!)

Same car as mine Lank & Kechup but mines got PPP on it. Be carefull in the wet as they can get a bit twitchy, above all respect what the car can do, which in 99% of circumstances is a whole load more that u can (no disrespect intended ) Don't drive like a bat out of hell when u first drive it, get used to the car and it's capabilitys.
Oh then get a PPP done on it and have even more fun and even higher fuel bills.

First of all enjoy ! I had'nt driven a scoob before i picked up my MY04 WRX last year brand new. But learn about the car don't go ***** out from the start you will end up wrapping it around a tree ! The grip is unreal but when it lets go it's big style, Only happened to me once about 12 month's ago, I was in first gear YES first gear ! Gave it a big bootfull while doing a u-turn, the back let go the front dug in after several handfulls of opposite lock and counter steering i had it under control. I nearly took out a bus shelter on the nearside and mounted the kerb on the offside it was very frightening ! Enjoy your scoob but beware it can catch you out !

The day has arrived, It's taken 4 months to find the right car for the right money and I pick it up in three hours. I've now got to sit in the passenger seat of my girls Astra for two hours, mess around with paper and pens for an hour, sign my life away and drive. . . Oh yes, drive the car. As for test drive, that would have ruined the feeling.
I did drive a 03 WRX, too slow. A 05 WRX 300 ltd. better but not what I wanted. I know this cars going to be good, and I'f I'd driven it before I might have kept looking for better.
Got to go now, wish me luck, expect to be back on here tomorrow with a big smile across my face.

LOL I know its a pain, but especially as the weather gets colder, it can take this long for the engine oil to get up to temperature mate. There was a good post on this a while ago where someone used their oil temp guage to measure how long it took to get the oil up to optimum temp under various conditions.

I've seen quite a few people gun their engines from cold all I can say is what I've heard from the experts: it aint a good idea if you don't want a rebuild sooner rather than later!!

this great thankyou for all the response

Yes i've driven a STi before - trackday experience round Rockingham - ok so i wasn't on my own and completely free ... but i gotta a feel for it.
Mine has got the PPP fitted from when the car was new so i know its going to bit .... and respect... that will be TOTAL RESPECT ... saving the hoofing around for the track.
.... oh and i've already been in touch with Adam at ScoobyClinic ... DOH!!!!!
might post a piccy when i get it (her ? not sure yet) but yes iam scared and excited all at the same time ... can't get to sleep.... wake up early .... i recon this week will take so long to roll on

jeez sorry for last post can't spell, can't type and thats before i've got the car

are you serious about keeping it in a garage over night ?
theres a trackstar, immobiliser and alarm ... if they get past that lot then a garage aint going to stop the filthy little ****es .. at least that way they leave the mrs mini cooper alone
I can't think like that .. if that happens then i guess it going to happen. No gain without pain ... and i know this will hurt .... does 250 miles on a full tank sound right .. i hope so ... i really do hope so ... else i might be walking one week a month ....
and whats a 'discolock' - least thats what i thought was posted....
