A workmate of mine has a 03 sti with ppp(v8), quickshift, pukka mudflaps,18 inch prodrive alloys,it's done less than 6000 miles and lives in his garage, it dosent know what rain is!, it's in as new condition and knowing him for the last 15 years i know it's as good as it sounds, he is now wanting to sell it, i want it LOL!, any ideas as to what it's worth, bearing in mind the new model coming out?
Your thoughts please,,
Cheers Darren

Sounds nice, but why would you want to pay more than Parkers says?, you'll be paying over the odds, which is of course your call, but bear in mind you will be selling it on someday.. I'd say add something like £500 -£1000 for the PPP or if you want a second opinion on the book price try wisebuyers.co.uk or the Glasses guide..

i hate these questions!! its worth as much as you get man, the car might be worth £20k but if only one person in 6 months of advertising offers you 17k then its worth 17k, ya get me dude? the joys of buying and selling

My mate just sold a similar spec 03 STi PPP with 40k, 18's, defi's, springs, ARB's, quickshift, ICE, flaps etc for just 16 grand. The low miles may be attractive though, as these things don't fully loosen up 'til after 10k at least so your mate hasn't even experienced the car at its best yet. Make him an offer at that and when he's had no luck selling it he'll come back and take even less

Default Well i'm f**ked then!

All the price quides say it worth £15k max, but have'nt seen one for sale any where as nice for less than £18k...i fear i'm going to laughed at and told to pi*s off!, these cars a worth a lot more to the owners than people wanting to buy, this makes a stalemate situation!

Mate, there will be plenty of Scoobs available at the Parkers guide prices, it is pretty well the most read and used price guide out there, if you think it is wrong go and check on the other guides I recommended and make an informed view.. of course any selling owner will tell you that the Parkers guide is rollocks and ask for more, who wouldn't, LOL... If you do pay more than the guides say thats absolutly up to you, but dont expect the situation to be the same when you come to sell, no doubt someone will be waving the price guides in your face and screwing you to the ground then! good luck with the purchase!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

If you are frightened enough that getting laughed at costs you more than £3k could I interest you in some little items I have for sale???

Its a buyers market, nothing is selling, make an offer of £14k and let him try and get more!!

There are PLENTY about!!!

You are looking on here for something/somebody to tell you to buy it at BIG money - you're not going to get that, because most of us are honest and tell it as it is .............................

Your shout ......

I have a 10 year old Immaculate Mazda MX5 and I love it - would I sell it for £8000?? No I wouldn't ..... it's worth MORE than that to me at the current time.

Would I get £8000 for it if I advertised it tomorrow?? I very much doubt it .... I could get maybe £4750 if I were to sell it.

So?? what is it worth?? Which is your question on the STi??

Well it's worth the £4750, or even down to £4250 that a buyer MAY want to pay me for it!! ................ it is NOT, repeat NOT, worth in between (£6000), is it now???

You seem much too niaive to be thinking about spending £14k+ on ANY car .... like I said, I have a few oddments I would like to sell you!!!

Default £17k

It's worth to him £17k, thats his lowest price, now i know this is much higher than the off the shelf price guides, but it's about the money if you look on all the car buying web sites (autotrader, top marques etc),and as i know him and and the car i think it's worth it, so when i get the money together i think i might just buy it!
So might see you around sometime......

Its top end of the range but if its as clean as you say its prob just about worth that. There are a few nice 03 STiPPPs around at the moment for 16250, 16500, 16850 so its not far off. In 4 weeks these prices will fall approx 10% due to the new model. Best I found on AT is:

2003SUBARU Impreza WRX STi Type
UK, 03 reg. 7000 miles, Warranty til next July, FSH, immaculate condition, no canvassers, bargain at,. £15,250. ono. 07976 810978.

Default New model?

Now i have seen the new model,as have you, and i think it looks like a saab or an old seat of some kind!, reading a few posts and articles on the web it seems most people are of the same opinion, also the i have seen speculation that the new impreza's are going to be quite a bit more expensive than the model at the moment, all this taken into consideration, is a 10% drop in value really to be expected?, god my head is going round and round!

Yes, at best 02-05 WRX/STi will lose about 5% at worst nearer 10%. It might not be an overnight loss but it will happen within 4 weeks. The used market for most cars is taking a big hit right now, the BoE are also due to cut interest rates again next month - this is a good indication that sales are struggling right now (not that interest is low the fact they are having to cut rates IYSWIM) and as such prices are low. Some cars are losing massive amounts right now and the main sector in trouble is sports / performance cars, which the WRX and STi come under. Just look at prices of used M3s or Porsche Boxsters, both taking big hits right now.

Rightly or wrongly i've bought said car, and to my mind i've bought a car that is better than it was when he drove it out of the show room,i have paid well over the market price( according to some ), but i am really happy with what i have got!, yes i could have bought a 54,05 model for not much more,,,,,,, but better the devil you know?
